Past Perfect Tense – Estrutura: Past Tense of the verb “to have” (had) + past participle of the main verb

Ex: I had started my japanese lessons... / Eu tinha começado minhas aulas de japonês...

Definição: O Past Perfect é usado para mostrar a sequência de duas ações no passado que estejam inter-relacionadas, a primeira
ação é expressada pela estrutura do Past Perfect e a segunda ação é expressada pela estrutura do Simple Past.

Ex: She had learned english before she went to Canada / Ela aprendeu ingles antes de ir para o Canadá

Nota: Quando descrevendo as ações pode-se mencionar a segunda ação e depois a primeira, lembrando sempre de usar a
estrutura do Past Perfect para descrever a ação que tenha ocorrido primeiro na “linha do tempo”.

Ex: Before she went to Canada she had learned english / Antes de ir para o Canadá ela aprendeu ingles

Conditional Perfect (IF Clause) – Estrutura: If + Past Perfect + “would have” + Past Participle

Ex: If he had listened to me he wouldn’t have crashed the car / Se ele tivesse me ouvido ele não teria batido o carro

Definição: O “IF clause” é usado para expressar situações passadas imaginárias, onde as condições para a ação ter ocorrido
sejam contrárias à realidade.

Present Perfect Continuous – Estrutura: have / has + been + “main verb”(ing)

Ex: I have been watching this TV series / Eu tenho estado assistindo esta série da TV

Definição: Usamos o Present Perfect Continuous para indicar que uma ação começou em um determinado momento no passado
e continuou até recentemente ou ainda está ocorrendo.
