Garrett Brown, Jerry Holway and Robin Thwaites lead our world-renowned Steadicam® training
team at South East Asia's first 5 1/2 day factory-certified Gold Workshop - to be held in the cool
mountain air of Awana Genting Highlands Golf & Country Resort, 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia, June 10th – 15th (Sunday 2.00pm – Friday 5.00pm) 2012
The Steadicam® Gold workshop teaches the art of Steadicam to all skill level of camera operator,
from student to working TV cameraman, while at the same time enhancing the skillset of
experienced Steadicam operators.
This is a hands-on, morning-to-night workshop. You spend as much time as possible in a rig or
setting up for your colleagues. Each 4-student group works with all 6 trainers (our trainers are
working Steadicam operators) and a full range of lightweight and high end Steadicam® rigs. The
bonus is that every night our trainers deliver brilliantly entertaining talks about Steadicam’s pivotal
role in story-telling, on-set experience, posture and position, plus every relevant tip known to man
for enjoying a long and satisfying career as a Steadicam operator.
The fee for the 5 1/2 day workshop is US$3500, which includes all equipment and materials,
airport/KL city transfers, all meals (including Halal) plus wrap party, but does not include your
accommodation which ranges from twin share at around US$50.00/night to Single deluxe at
around US$100.00/night. Training language is English and you are welcome to bring an
interpreter by prior arrangement. Many of our workshops run multi-lingual, so please don't think
language is a barrier.

The VENUE Awana Genting Highlands Golf Resort
Set 3000ft up and away from the heat and humidity of sea-level tropics, Awana Genting nestles
amongst 100's of Hectares of ancient rain forest, and boasts a not-so-ancient 18-hole Golf course,
40 x extreme sports facilities, pool, unbelievably delicious food from its restaurants and a buffet,
and most importantly, 1000's of square feet under cover and access to most public areas. And it's
only 30 minutes from BATU Caves and 1 hour from Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC).
About the Steadicam rigs you'll operate
If it's a Steadicam and it's not part of the 6 x workshop rigs, you'll still get to
play with it because we also bring the Steadicam Smoothee, Merlin, Pilot
and Scout lightweight systems to the workshop for you to pour over and
enjoy. We'll also have our new Tango boom arm for Steadicam. The
workshop groups will have
Steadicam Zephyrs (2) - 9kg camera capacity and fast becoming a
new legend in Steadicam rigs
Steadicam Archer 2 - the broadcast workhorse taking ENG
cameras with wireless links.
Steadicam Phantom - designed with all the potential of the Ultra 2
in a form factor that keeps it light by reducing vertical range to 49"
(Ultra 2 has 71") you can upgrade.
Steadicam Ultra 2 (pictured) massive 1.7m length from four
stages. Full HD operation, perfect for 3D rigs and plenty of
accessories
