					Tips For Healthier Skin
Stress, aging, environmental factors and sun exposure affect our skin negatively. A few simple tips
can help your skin stay healthy and young looking.

If you are planning a day that will keep you exposed to the sun's ultraviolet rays for an extended
period of time, use a sunscreen with a high SPF. Use a sunscreen designed specifically for the
delicate skin on your face and wash it off as soon as you are out of the sun. For day to day use, apply
a moisturizer and foundation that has a low SPF. Most visible signs of aging are produced by free
radicals from sun exposure.

Smoking cigarettes also creates free radicals that often lead to sign of premature aging. Fine lines
and wrinkle become deeper and more noticeable. Cigarette smoking also affects the skin by robbing
your body of proper hydration.

Hot water is extremely drying to your skin and your hair. Use lukewarm water for baths and showers.
You can apply lotion before and after showering to keep your skin moisturized. If your skin is still dry,
try applying baby oil to your body, but not your face, before a shower.

Your facial cleanser should be designed especially for the delicate skin of your face. Find a facial
soap that works for the type of skin you have. Your body soap should also be fairly mild to avoid
irritating sensitive skin.

Use a moisturizing body lotion daily to avoid dry skin. Your facial moisturizer should be designed
specifically for your skin type and have a mild SPF. Apply moisturizer every morning before putting on
make-up and every evening before going to bed. Never go to sleep without cleaning and moisturizing
your face.

A healthy diet is key to having healthy skin. Fruits and vegetables provide a wide variety of minerals,
vitamins and the antioxidants responsible for fighting the effects of free radicals. Antioxidants also
provide your body with the ability to repair damaged tissue at the cellular level. Consume an
adequate amount of water to keep your body well hydrated.

Get some exercise or learn valuable relaxation techniques to relieve stress. Some people find that a
daily jog around the neighborhood clears their heads and relieves tension. Other people find that
meditation and yoga help them deal with stress. Try a few different methods for stress relief to see
which ones work best for you.

If you notice any skin discoloration, new moles or freckles or changes in existing moles, consult a
dermatologist. Skin cancer affects people of all ages and can have serious consequences if left
untreated.

It is important to exfoliate your skin occasionally. Exfoliating too often can damage your skin so avoid
exfoliating more than once a week. A gentle exfoliant will rid your skin of the layer of dead skin cells
and bring new, healthy skin cells to the surface.

Taking care of your skin should be a normal part of your daily routine. Consume antioxidant rich foods
to repair previous damage and take steps to prevent further damage.
