                  Due Date: December 15, 2008

Name _____________________________ Date ______________

Draw a “Rube Goldberg” style invention/devise that uses at least 3 different
types of simple machines to accomplish one everyday task. Types of
machines to be used include: levers, pulleys, inclined planes, screws, wedges,
and wheel and axles.
You must use at least 3 different types of simple machines, but may use as many of
each as needed. (For example, you may use 3 levers, 2 pulleys, and 1 inclined plane.)

Your invention must be neatly drawn and labeled using ABC’s to show the order of
the steps from start to finish.

Include a How-to essay (written description) of the order (ABCs to match the
drawing) of the steps as they relate to the invention’s function from start to finish,
indicating what type of simple machine was used. Be sure to include terminology such as
force, gravity, push, pull, friction, direction of motion, lever, pulley, inclined plane, etc.
Conclude with how this invention makes life or work easier. 

Present your invention orally to the class, demonstrating a thorough understanding
of how this invention works and how the knowledge you gained through this unit of
study helped you create your invention.

Use good taste: No offensive drawings or words. Grading will be based on originality
(must be your own work), neatness, ability to complete the assignment by the due
date, and meeting the requirements as outlined above.
