LACE’S TAPE PRO-FILERS HEAT MOLDING BLADES GUARDS REPAIRS and more!!
Hockey Skate Sharpening from Steve’s Skate Shop
A bit of history on my skate sharpening plan, during the 97-98 season, I was approached
to help the High School Varsity Team with a more consistent and a tailored plan for the team.
Receiving training, techniques and tools from Edge Specialties I have a program which has
been implemented that is much like an equipment manager with the focus on the skates and the
maintenance they require. This Team Plan has been very beneficial, and has now made its way
to the Traveling Teams and the House League.
For me to be able to handle the volume of skates and to stay true to the Team Plan, I need your
team to get organized, with 1 contact person who will drop off and pick up your teams skates. We
will look at your teams schedule and the calendar of events to set up your routine.
A Team Roster form will be provided. Please fill it out completely which will allow us to contact
parents and players regarding their account or a skate which may need repairs.
In order for this to work there are a few things you must do as a player and parent.
1. Your skates (both of them) must have your name on them. No name, No sharpening.
2. A sharpening card needs to be on file.
3. Your sharpening is measured, charted, and dated. If there is a change necessary to the
type of sharpening you require I need to know so we can work together to find what
works best for you.
4. Cards are kept on file in the skate shop, this way they do not get lost by the players.
5. A skate sharpening card is $32.00. That’s 8 sharpening per card at $4.00 per sharpening.
6. I will notify you or your parents when you have 1 sharpening remaining on your card.
This is where the Team Roster form is important. When your card is full and you continue to
send your skates with the team they will not be sharpened until a new card is on file. Tracking down
kids and parents and asking for money takes all the fun out of keeping your skater in the game.
That’s pretty much it - it may sound like a lot, but it has worked well for many years.
To follow the Team Plan call or Email Steve or Becky to start your account. Also, if you would like
Steve to speak at Team meetings feel free to call and set up a time, we can discuss just the team
