This document is the property of the NC DPI and

Upon completing this module the participant
 will be able to:

     Select a Mark Scale
     Setup Mark Scale
     Add Marks
     View Mark Information
     Setup School Reporting Dates

   Three approved mark scales:
       Alpha
       Graduated Alpha
       Numeric (%)
   LEA and/or school determines which to use.
   Only one mark scale type per school.
   Mark scales cannot be combined.
   Determines how teachers enter marks in
    gradebook.

   Valid Mark Scales are in the Post
    Conversion Guide.
   EX (Exempt) can be added to the Mark
    Scale. The Numeric value should be null
    and the mark identified as passing.

Adding Marks through Credit
Details
   A student admitted in the middle of a
    school year from a non-NC WISE school
    may need to have first semester final
    marks from the previous school added.
   These should be entered through credit
    details.

Detail – Steps
1.   On the Credit Details screen, click Add
     from Course List.
2.   Select the appropriate course. Click OK.
     The first 4 characters must match
     exactly.
3.   Press the Tab key.
4.   Update Earned and Potential Credit.
5.   If needed, add the Diploma Category.

6.    Update School Information.
7.    Add the correct year.
8.    Add the correct grade level in which the course
      was taken.
9.    Add the academic level and the course length.
10.   Type in the district/school name.
11.   Add the state.
12.   Click Save.

Mark Entry - Steps
1.   Select the correct Course Length.
2.   Select the correct Reporting Period.
3.   Select the appropriate course and
     section.
4.   Click Students.
5.   Enter marks and/or comments.
6.   Check Mark Entry Complete.

1.   Query a student who
     received a schedule from
     you.
2.   Add a course with a final
     mark to Credit Detail.
3.   Add a mark in the current
     reporting period.

About the School Reporting
Dates
   Affects GPA calculations and report card
    generation.
   Populates based on the Start and End
    Dates entered in the Reporting Periods
    screen.
   All Reporting Periods for each Course
    Length must be included for the
    corresponding Reporting Date.

About Setting up GPA Reporting
Dates
   GPA Reporting Dates must be set up in the
    GPA Module in order for report cards to
    print.
   Identify the course length, start date, and
    reporting period for each reporting date.

Steps
1.   In the School Reporting Dates screen,
     click Add to
2.   Type the date in the box.
3.   Click Save.
4.   Click ADD at the bottom of the screen to
     add a reporting period to the date.

5.   Select the course length, start date,
     and reporting period.
6.   Click Save to save the changes.
7.   Add a second reporting period if needed.
8.   Click Save to save the changes, and then
     click Exit twice.

GPA Module Setup
   eSIS can keep a record of the GPAs that
    have been calculated.
   eSIS allows the user to choose which GPA
    calculation is included in reports.
   GPAs are calculated to four decimal
    places.
   Middle school GPA is not calculated as
    middle school courses are non-credit
    courses.

   1 Extra Point Scale for Honors Courses
   2 Extra Point Scale for Advanced
    Placement/International Baccalaureate
    courses.
   Course numbers are unique for the two
    types of courses. In Course Maintenance
    the 5th Character of the Course Code
    must match Academic Level.

About GPA Calculations and
Rank Reports …
   GPA calculations are based on:
       Current Marks
       Credit History
       Course Details
       School Details
   GPA is re-calculated every time the
    transcript prints.

About Running the GPA
Calculation
   The FINAL GPA must be run and the
    FINAL Rank must be stored BEFORE
    the Diploma Issued date is populated
    for students.
   Populating the Diploma Issued date
    BEFORE the final GPA and Rank are
    stored will BREAK the EDI Transcript
    process. Colleges will receive incomplete
    transcripts from EDI.

     All Years.
     Store GPA in
     student’s record?

Printing the NC Report Card -
Steps
1.   On the main eSIS Start Screen, query
     for a student.
2.   Click Print.
3.   Check the Report Card box and click
     Print.
4.   Select the appropriate reporting periods
     and click Print. The report card opens in
     PDF.
