                                Schedule for Student-led Sections


                                       General Instructions
The goal of the student-led sections is to allow students to run the discussion. Specific students
will be given roles for each section, but all students will be collectively responsible for discussing
the material. You will note that in the allocation of responsibilities some of the readings do not
have specific students assigned to lead discussion on them. That does not mean that those articles
are not to be discussed. Instead it means that discussion of those articles will not be led by any
one person. The moderator is responsible for keeping the discussion going and the “summary”
student is responsible for giving a sense if the discussion at the end of section.

Tuesday, March 27th
Assignment 4 is due.
You will be collectively responsible for conducting a discussion of the readings on Gay and
Lesbian Rights (pp. 443-463, chapter 12 in S&J). Also read the brief introduction to Section 4, on
pages 405-406. This will provide a starting point for your discussions of the articles. Your
responsibilities are described below.

Tuesday, April 10th
Assignment 5 is due
You will be collectively responsible for conducting a discussion of the readings on issues of
Patriotism and Nationalism (chapter 11 in S&J, pp. 407-442). Your responsibilities are described
below.

Thursday, April 26th
First draft of Assignment 6 is due.
You will be collectively responsible for conducting a discussion of the readings on Digital
Information and Copyright (pp. 464-503 in S&J). Your responsibilities are described below.
