O K everyone, fall is finally here, and with Fall comes
SOS! I hope you all have your reservations, because
I’ve heard of so many hotels sold out. I have just a couple of
                                                                      7 Junior Shag flyer

things to remind you of: Fun Monday - with Delbert McClinton, the Coastline Band &
the Craig Woolard Band. You just don’t get any better than that! The other big thing
going on at SOS is Charlotte Shag Club’s “Mile High Shooter Party” on Thursday,
September 20th. We are having it at Big Duck’s this year, and it absolutely should be
fantastic (see flyer in this newsletter)! Don’t forget about our Pre-Sos Party at Lynn’s on
Thursday, September 6th. We will have food, prizes and a half & half raffle (see flyer in
  this newsletter).

Also, in the Fall comes election time. We are happy to announce that Georgia Knight
has agreed to be our Nominations Chairperson. She will form her committee during
September. If you are interested in running for President, Vice President (our bylaws
require that nominees for these 2 positions have previously served on the CSC Board),
Secretary, Treasurer, or Sgt. At Arms, please give Georgia a call at 704/488-9271.

We are still having great crowds on Thursdays and Saturdays at Lynn’s, so please join
us anytime you can. Our membership is now at 341. We are getting ready to come into
a very busy time as the holidays approach, although I personally will be happy about the
weather cooling off. We will have details soon on our Halloween and Christmas Parties.

Hope to see you at the beach!.

Don’t forget our Suggestion Box at Lynn’s located beside the bulletin board
in the back. We welcome all comments relating to the Charlotte Shag Club
or Lynn’s. Those relating to the Charlotte Shag Club will be forwarded to
the CSC board and those relating to Lynn’s will be forwarded to Bill Cole.

The next Board Meeting is Thursday, Sept 13th, at 7:00pm at Summerfield Suites.
The General Membership Meeting is Thursday, Sept 13th, at 8:00pm at Lynn’s.

Flashback 2007 Weekend Party (by Patti Miller, Flashback Chairperson)

osh, where do I begin – what a great weekend we had August 2nd – 4th! We started out on
G Thursday night with our 1st Warm-Up Party at Lynn’s. Mike Brantley was our DJ, and did
an outstanding job keeping us dancing. Susan Denton coordinated a great spread for us to eat,
and by about 10:00, there was very little left, so I know everyone enjoyed it. We had such a
great crowd, over 200 people! Thanks to Mike & Susan!

Our 2nd Warm-Up Party at Lynn’s was on Friday night with Tommy Almond as our DJ. Tommy
played great music, and looked fantastic in his white “zoot” suit! Our food on Friday was
furnished by Kitten & Bill, and they too provided us with a delicious spread to eat. We, again,
had a great crowd, and everyone was in a partying mood! Thanks to Tommy, Bill, & Kitten.
Special thanks to Mary & TK Robinette for the free workshop that night.

Then the BIG one! Saturday night at the Extravaganza was fantastic! We opened the doors at
about 4:30, and there were people already waiting! Dianne Landon & her Committee, along
with the Extravaganza did an unbelievable job with decorations through the decades. Our first
DJ was Frank Price, and even though it was early in the evening, he still managed to get people
up and dancing! We started our “open bar” at 6:00, if any of you were wondering about the
mass exodus to the bar about that time. Thanks to all of our sponsors; Mike Barbee, Bill Cole &
Lynn’s, Durran Coley & Jordan-Coley, Inc., Jim Kelly & B & K Wholesale Automotive, Mary & TK
Robinette, and David Shaw & Ducks! David, it was so good to see you out & about since your
motorcycle accident. We also began serving dinner around 6:00 and, as always, the food was
phenomenal! The Grill & Picnic Company always does such a good job. Then, at 7:00 we
began 30 minutes of the funniest & craziest entertainment you have ever seen. For those of
you who couldn’t attend the party, you missed seeing Elvis, Jimmy Buffet & Alan Jackson just to
name a few. All the acts were great, and thanks to all of the cast & crew for their months of
hard work and practice. Who knew there was so much talent in the Charlotte Shag Club?
Special thanks to Glenna Watts for directing, producing, and participating in this wonderful
entertainment, to Mike Brantley for editing and providing the music, to Mischia Parks, Jack
Rainwater, and John Richardson for their support with props and getting all the entertainers out
on time, and to Doug Osborn for taking our video of the event. At 9:00, our 2nd DJ, Eddie
Teeter, played for us until closing and kept the dance floor full the rest of the night. Pictures
are now on our bulletin board at Lynn’s and will soon be on our website.

Everyone involved in this weekend is so appreciated! I would like to give special thanks to our
Flashback Committee for all their hard work putting this whole thing together: Patricia
Barrington - Photography; Mike Brantley - Publicity, Flyers & Music; Susan Denton - Food for
Kick Off Parties & Catering; Dianne Landon - Decorations & Bathroom Baskets; Patti Miller -
Ticket Sales & Promotion; John Richardson - Props & Beverages; Janice & Larry Walker -
Greeting & Reception; Glenna Watts - Entertainment; Glenda Westmoreland - Hotel & Shuttle.

If you didn’t make the party this year, you missed a big one! Remember this for next year.
