                         Holiday Shutdown Procedures & Custodian Checklist
In our continuing effort to conserve energy and save money, all school sites will be on Holiday Energy
Conservation Schedule during the duration of scheduled district holidays.
The electricity will remain ON at all sites for fire and intrusion equipment, and for food items .

All outside lights will be OFF in the evening, unless prior requests for evening programs have been approved.
For extended holidays only: Outside lights will be ON in the morning until dawn.

All HVAC equipment will be OFF
For extended holidays only: A designated faculty area will be available during custodial hours only.

At the end of the day before scheduled break:

   Teachers, please turn OFF all electrical equipment in your rooms, including complete shutdown of all
    computers, monitors, printers and audio/visual equipment. Also, please turn OFF inside lights when you
    leave. For extended holidays: Refrigerator should be unplugged w/door propped open and perishable food
    removed, (be sure to accommodate for ice melt accordingly).

   Office and other staff, please turn OFF all miscellaneous items such as radios, coffee pots, personal heaters
    and fans. Office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, computers, monitors and printers should also
    be shut down. Also, please turn OFF inside lights when you leave. For extended holidays: Refrigerator
    should be unplugged w/door propped open and perishable food removed, (be sure to accommodate for ice
    melt accordingly).

   Custodians, be sure all interior lights and restroom exhaust fans are OFF. Double-check the entire site for
    any non-essential electrical equipment left on, including P.A. systems in the multipurpose room and
    miscellaneous electrical equipment in staff lounges, teacher prep rooms, gyms and locker rooms. All local
    controlled (non-EMS) HVAC units must be turned OFF at thermostat. For extended holidays: Please
    return an individually completed checklist to environmental services. Each custodian should receive their
    own shutdown checklist.

The entire campus should be SHUT DOWN, with all non-essential electrical equipment turned OFF.

PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT shut down telephone, network, server or equipment used for safety and security
systems.

Energy Managers will be auditing schools during the holiday.

Please help us with our energy conservation efforts, which in turn, allow us to focus our resources in more productive
ways to serve our students.
