Flower Show Sponsors Bring New Products, Green Messages
        PHILADELPHIA – The sponsors of the 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show,
“Hawaii: Islands of Aloha,” offer a variety of special products and services for visitors this year.
Many also come to the Show with a green message.
        Subaru of America is the Premier Sponsor of the 2012 Flower Show and has been a
sponsor for 11 years. The educational Gardener’s Studio is sponsored by Subaru, which is also
bringing renowned television gardening host Joe Lamp’l to the lecture stage this year. Subaru is
creating a beautifully appointed “Surf Shack” exhibit at the Flower Show and an informational
display on the Bridge Concourse, featuring a tribute to the godfather of surfing, Duke Kahanamoku.
Subaru is adding a wonderful new element, Subaru Day on Monday, March 5, when area dealers
have invited customers to enjoy the Flower Show and celebrate Subaru’s support for the show.
Subaru promotes the work of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society year-round and provided an
Outback to lead the new PHS Green Machine program. PHS members enjoy numerous benefits of
this sponsorship, including discounts on vehicles.
        Subaru is being honored this year with the PHS Binney Award for its exceptional leadership
in environmental practices. The company’s American manufacturing plant, Subaru of Indiana, has
become the first auto assembly facility to be “zero landfill,” because all waste is recycled or turned
into electricity. In 2003, the Indiana site became the first auto assembly facility to be designated as a

        The Williamson students made a field trip to Virginia to work with the CWF horticultural
staff and share information about 18th-century gardening. CWF is also bringing in three speakers for
the Lecture and Demonstration series at the show.
        Einstein Healthcare Network is a new Official Sponsor and naming sponsor of the
Family Lounge, powered by Sprout. Einstein doctors and health professionals will be on-site
answering guests’ questions about topics such as allergies, gardening injuries and healthy living.
Einstein has also become a founding sponsor of the PHS-led program, Plant One Million, a tree-
planting campaign in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

this year’s show.
        The Hawaii Tourism Authority, the state’s lead tourism agency, is an Official Sponsor of
the 2012 Flower Show. The HTA works with Hawaii’s visitor industry, marketing partners and the
community to ensure that Hawaii remains a special place to live and visit. The HTA is bringing a
great variety of plants, plant experts and two entertainment troupes to the Flower Show.

        Mantis, a manufacturer of gardening and yard equipment, is also a second-year educational
partner of W.B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences on its exhibit, “The Canoe Garden,”
which explores how earl settlers of Hawaii brought their native plants to create the island’s first
        Organic Gardening magazine is an Official Sponsor of the Flower Show and is sponsoring
the culinary demonstrations.

        SugarHouse Casino is a new sponsor of the Flower Show, continuing its commitment to
greening Philadelphia. Sugar House will host a booth, participate in the Flower Show theme nights,
and sponsor the newest addition to the show, the Man Cave. SugarHouse has designated its
SugarHouse Express trolley as a Flower Show Shuttle all week, offering free parking and round-trip
transportation on the hour to the show.
        “The Flower Show is always one of Philadelphians’ favorite events to come to the city each
year, and we are proud to be part of this week-long event,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager
of SugarHouse Casino. “We look forward to continuing a strong relationship with the Horticultural

Flower Show. The Tourism Ireland exhibit is designed by Burke Brothers Landscape Contractors
and highlights Ireland’s rich horticultural heritage in a classic yet modern setting that features the
iconic symbols of the Irish people. Tourism Ireland will feature several renowned Irish chefs,
designers and writers in the Demonstration rooms.
        The PA Wine & Spirits Store is sponsoring the wine and spirits store in the Grand Hall,
which includes free tastings provided by the vendors. The highlights will be Friday, when Melissa
Gorga, one of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” appears at the Flower Show to promote Voli
Vodka, and Saturday, when Bethenny Frankel debuts her new “Skinnygirl” line of products at the
Flower Show.
        Dasani, an Official Beverage Sponsor of the Flower Show, will display the innovative
PlantBottle package. Dasani’s PlantBottle package is up to 30 percent made from plants, so it reduces
dependence on non-renewable resources. And as always, it is 100 percent recyclable.
        Pernod Ricard is an Official Sponsor of the Flower Show, and its Malibu Rum is the
Official Spirit of the Show. The Malibu Mai Tai will serve as the signature cocktail of the Hawaii-
themed show.
        Kona Brewing Company, the Official Beer of the Flower Show, was started in the spring
of 1994 by father and son team Cameron Healy and Spoon Khalsa, who had a dream to create fresh,
local island brews made with spirit, passion and quality. It is a Hawaii-born and Hawaii-based craft
brewery that prides itself on brewing the freshest beer of exceptional quality, closest to market. This
