       A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Wesley "Tag" Mabry.

       WHEREAS, Wesley "Tag" Mabry is a native son of the Commonwealth, born in

Hopkinsville, Kentucky, on June 19, 1923, to the late Wesley Mabry and Annie

Hollbrooke Keach; and

       WHEREAS, Tag Mabry graduated from Hopkinsville High School in 1942. He

joined the United States Army in 1943 and proudly served his country for three years, two

of which were in the New Guinea Campaign and the Liberation of the Philippines. After

his service, Tag Mabry graduated from Bowling Green Business College, receiving a
Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce with a major in higher accounting. He

completed his graduate work at the University of Alabama; and

       WHEREAS, after being employed as an accountant for Moss-Hestley and Frankel

Tobacco Operations and owning a retail grocery, Tag Mabry became an Internal Revenue

Service agent and served 30 years until his retirement in 1981. Most notably, in 1972, he

was involved in the prosecution of the infamous Bowling Green car theft ring, and from

1974 to 1975, he was one of a small group of IRS agents to participate in the Watergate

investigation in Washington, D.C.; and

       WHEREAS, Tag Mabry has been devoted to his hometown of Hopkinsville since

his retirement. He served on the city council of Hopkinsville from 1986 to 1996, and his

duties included Mayor Pro-Tem, chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee, and

numerous other assigned committees. He has been heavily involved in the Christian

County Historical Society, Christian County Museum Board, and the Genealogical

Society. He is also a member of I.O.O.F. Green River Lodge No. 54 and Elks B.P.O.E.

No. 545, and a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1913; and

       WHEREAS, Tag Mabry dutifully serves God through his membership with

Edgewood Baptist Church; and
       WHEREAS, Tag Mabry is a devout family man, the loving husband of his wife,

Sara Porter, the loving father of three children, Wesley, Phillip Burnett, and Norma

Susan, and the loving and doting grandfather of four grandchildren, Wesley, William,

Phillip, and Lauren;

       NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of

Kentucky:
       Section 1.     The Senate does hereby recognize and honor Wesley "Tag" Mabry

for his many contributions to his community and the Commonwealth, and wish him

continued success in the future.
       Section 2.     When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Wesley

"Tag" Mabry.

       Section 3.      The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this

Resolution to Senator Joey Pendleton.
