Output devises Monitors TFT TFT monitors use thin-film transistor technology for the LCD display. LCD is called a flat panel displays. Almost all LCD monitors today use TFT technology. The benefit of a TFT monitor is a separate, tiny transistor for each pixel on the display. Because each transistor is so small, the amount of charge needed to control it is also small. This allows for very fast re- drawing of the display, as the image is re-painted or refreshed several times per second. TFT screens are bad for gamers, as they can't keep the picture clear with the fast moving speed of the game. CRT CRT stands for cathode ray tube, describing the technology inside an analog computer monitor or television set. A CRT monitor or TV is readily recognizable by its bulky form. LCD monitors and plasma television sets. The CRT monitor creates a picture out of many rows or lines of tiny colored dots. Transmits a lot of radiation but can show a clear picture. PROJECTORS A Projector is a device designed to take an image from a video source and project it as faithfully as possible onto a screen or other surface. Projectors are used in a variety of different ways; they are enjoyed by home theaters to their ability to project movies and television programs onto a screen much larger than even the biggest TV available, and used in the corporate setting to project information onto screens large enough for rooms filled with people to see. Projectors come in a variety of different shapes and sizes and are produced by many different companies. You can print images, documents and cards. IMPACT Printers that create characters by striking an inked ribbon against the paper beneath. Examples of impact printers are dot-matrix printers, daisywheel printers, and most types of line printer. Impact printers are noisier and slower than nonimpact printers, such as ink-jet and laser printers, but can be used to produce carbon copies. INK type of printer that works by spraying ionized ink at a sheet of paper. Magnetized plates in the ink's path direct the ink onto the paper in the desired shapes. Ink-jet printers are capable of producing high quality print approaching that produced by laser printers. A typical ink-jet printer provides a resolution of 300 dots per inch, although some newer models offer higher resolutions. In general, the price of ink-jet printers is lower than that of laser printers. However, they are also considerably slower. Another drawback of ink-jet printers is that they require a special type of ink that is apt to smudge on inexpensive copier paper. LAYSER A type of printer that utilizes a laser beam to produce an image on a drum. The light of the laser alters the electrical charge on the drum wherever it hits. The drum is then rolled through a reservoir of toner, which is picked up by the charged portions of the drum. Finally, the toner is transferred to the paper through a combination of heat and pressure. This is also the way copy machines work. PLOTTER It’s an output device used to produce hardcopy. Plotters are used for drawing graphs, making maps, plotting civil engineering drawings and machine components. Plotters work on the principle of a human hand holding a pen and moving it on paper. Plotters are normally very slow output devices because of excessive mechanical movement required during plotting but still plot much faster than a draughtsman and the output is of better quality. Plotters are of two type’s flatbed and drum type.
