  – His Message: At last! It’s Here! God’s Kingdom!

The Gospel Message:
     First Things First: Baptism
   Baptism of John (1:4,5)
    – How to get accepted by God.
    – Jews thought acceptance was automatic.
    – Baptism was for Gentiles
          Symbolic of the need for moral cleansing.
    – John: “You need to be forgiven too!”
          Still today: everyone does!
    – Means Repentance: a change of mind.
        Not a change of behavior!
        A change in your relationship with God.

    – Synonymous with Christian water baptism today.
