LET'S START BY putting the fad argument as it relates to Pinterest into perspective: Pinterest, which launched in 2010, is already two years old - older than many of the "new, hot social networks" that we see so often launch and flame out. While rapid growth has only occurred as the invitation process was opened up at the end of 2011, all those newcomers have been welcomed into a platform with an already established value proposition and communal norms.
