*Revised Background Guide for Security Council- Attn: Security Council members. A revised background guide has been
posted to for the Security Council. The materials on the South China Sea previously contained language that
did not recognize the One China Policy. Additional care has been taken by the authors to inform on the interests in the
region without drawing conclusions. The previous version was not intentional, but we offer the new text as a
transparent reminder to ourselves and attendees of the sensitive nature of many issues as well as the diplomatic
importance of word choice.

*ATT Position Paper Clarification- Attn: Conference on the ATT members. When writing ATT position papers, delegates
should not feel obligated to treat each of the seven sections listed in the background guide as a separate topic which
needs to be addressed with its own paragraph, but should write the position paper as a cohesive position on the treaty
as a whole, addressing the key points from their country’s perspective.
