           Key Roles and Responsibilities for Members

In accordance with the commitment for CII Core Process participation, members must designate key personnel to
serve in various leadership and administrative positions in CII research, implementation, professional development,
and benchmarking & metrics.

Board of Advisors Representatives (BOA) - Minimum of two members
 The Board of Advisors is the governing body of the Institute, responsible for all significant policy and
   operational questions including funding of research projects.
   A Board Advisor (primary representative) and one or more Board Alternates represent each member
    organization on the CII Board of Advisors.
   Board members should have the organizational authority to take a leadership role in the development
    of a CII participation agenda. This includes the development and execution of an implementation
    strategy and authority to influence organizational change,
   The CII Board of Advisors hold two meetings a year, in the spring and fall, in addition to an Annual
    Conference held in the summer. Regular attendance is crucial to company representation in CII
    research and activities. This is where much of the work of the CII Board of Advisors is done.
   Board members nominate personnel from their organizations to participate on CII committees and
    teams, thus they need to understand the availability of people from their organizations.
 Board of Advisors members are requested to participate the BOA Awareness Webinar Series to . Its
 members meet virtually for one hour once a month. Agendas provide in-depth information into the
 various working groups and activities of CII, providing opportunities for questions and interaction with
 other members.


Implementation Champion(s) (IC) – Minimum of one person *
   Implementation Champions assume the responsibility for the implementation of CII products
    throughout the organization.
   The Implementation Champions will implement procedures to review and evaluate CII products for
    inclusion in the company’s capital delivery processes and procedures. This is crucial for maximizing
    the benefits of membership in CII.
   For those products selected, the Implementation Champions guide implementation by determining the
    means and methods for implementation, marshaling the necessary resources to accomplish
    implementation, and providing support and guidance to implementation efforts.
   The Implementation Champions interface with CII committees and staff on implementation efforts and
    results achieved.
   Implementation Champions should attend CII Performance Improvement Workshops to sharpen their
    implementation skills and stay updated on CII product performance and other CII services.

 Data Liaison(s) (DL) – Minimum of one person *
    Data Liaisons serve as knowledgeable contacts for various data requests and surveys from CII
     research teams and staff. This permits the Board members to focus greater attention on CII policy
     issues. If no designation is provided the Board Advisor will be assigned as the default.
    The Data Liaison should have knowledge of where and how to get information, an understanding of
     the substance of data requests, and the ability to determine when data is sensitive enough to seek
     advice from the Board Advisor.
    Responsibilities include coordination of data collection within the company, transmittal of the compiled
     data to the requesting party, and receipt, distribution and maintenance of reports resulting from
     contributed data.


Professional Development Coordinator – Minimum of one person *
    Evaluates CII professional development opportunities and aligns them with corporate professional
     development goals.
    Provides feedback and guidance to the Professional Development Committee.
    CII Online Education expands the modes of delivery of CII educational material with special focus on
     CII Best Practices. It uses the Internet to deliver CII education modules. CII Member Organizations
     may choose to have their Professional Development Coordinator manage the participation of their
     employees utilizing the CII Learning Management System (LMS) feature of the CII Online Education
     Program.


Benchmarking Manager (BMA) – Maximum of one person *
    The Benchmarking Manager will manager all of the company’s benchmarking activities and coordinate
     Benchmarking Associates.
    The chosen individual should understand the goals and objectives of CII benchmarking and metrics,
     the company’s continuous improvement process, be readily accessible for consultation, and know
     where to obtain project data and related information within the company.
    The Benchmarking Associate facilitates selection of projects and respondents, expedites completion
     of questionnaires, and verifies completeness and accuracy of data before submitting to CII.


Online Administrator(s) – Minimum of one person *
    A basic benefit to each member organization is unlimited and free access to download CII’s products
     via the Web site at http://construction-institute.org in the Products Online catalog. CII member Web
     access is controlled within each member organization by the designated Online Administrator(s).
    Online Administrators provide CII Web-based services access to others in their organization. Multiple
     Online Administrators may be designated to serve different departments or locations.
