									HTS: The Rogue’s Path
Episode 1.19: Omens of the Apocalypse
OPEN ON—

INT. GRAVEYARD – NIGHT
Rows upon rows of gray tombstones are seen stretching across the
landscape as the moon casts an erie glow down onto the ground.

The dead body of LOU AUSTIN rests in a pool of blood by a tombstone.
LOU’S body is motionless.

MUSIC: Building A Mystery by Sarah McLachlan

INT. HOSPITAL
AUDREY CREED wakes up and looks around the room, unable to see anyone.
She looks worried as she notices no movement. She reaches out her hand
in the darkness.

                                     AUDREY
                     Kyle? Kyle, are you there?

No answer. AUDREY begins to cry softly when the door opens. KYLE
CREED steps into the room, his hand wrapped with an ice pack. He takes
off the ice pack and looks at his cut and bruised hand.

                                     KYLE
Audrey, were you calling for me?

                                    AUDREY
Oh, Kyle. I thought you’d abandoned me.
I had a bad dream that Lou came back and
                     hurt me again.

KYLE walks over and cradles AUDREY in his arms, shaking his head.

                                     KYLE
Don’t worry, Audrey. Lou will never hurt
                     anyone again.

KYLE looks darkly up at the ceiling as AUDREY frowns. She feels KYLE’S
swollen hand and the ice pack, but KYLE quickly pulls it away. AUDREY
looks hurt before leaning back into his arms.

EXT. STARK CORPORATION
A limousine pulls up to the front of it. GARTH MITCHUM climbs out
quickly, opening the back door. ROLAND emerges, looking a bit nervous
as he glances around the entrance. He quickly walks inside as GARTH
gets back inside the limo and pulls away.

EXT. THE GRAVEYARD’S GRASSY HILL – NIGHT
MARCUS CAGE is laying face down in the grass. He begins to wake up,
feeling the back of his head. He looks groggy as he sits up, looking
around at his surroundings. He looks to his right, but sees nothing.
He looks confused, feeling a large bump on his head. He staggers out
of the area, looking around as he walks over to his car.
INT. THE GRAVEYARD
KATE AUSTIN is unconscious in the bushes. She begins to move, coming
to as she sits up, coughing and gasping for air. She rolls onto her
knees and stands, but stops short when she sees LOU’S dead body
surrounded by a pool of blood.

Her eyes widen and she backs up, tripping over a tombstone nearby. She
catches herself on the gates, but regains her balance and exits the
scene quickly.

EXT. CAM’S GRAVE
LONNIE ELAMB, looking exhausted, comes walking through the rows of
tombstones, carrying a gun. He walks over to the CAM AUSTIN tombstone
and peers over. He sees LOU’S dead body and his eyes look very
intense. He shakes his head and lowers his weapon.

                                    LONNIE
                     Shit.

LONNIE backs up and runs towards the exit.

CLOSE on the moon. As time passes, the moon dissolves into the sun as
morning comes.

EXT. CHICAGO TRIBUNE NEWSPAPER OFFICES – DAY
Two women, LINDSEY WALLACE and CHLOE CHRISTIANSON, come walking dwon
the sidewalk, both dressed in baseball caps, blue jeans, baggy
sweatshirts, and sunglasses. They wait underneath a canopy by a nearby
restaurant as CARRIE McGWIRE (1.16: Howl At The Moon) comes walking
down the street, a pair of keys dangling in her hands.
The sharply dressed CARRIE walks over as her blonde hair bounces with
each step. CARRIE puts a key into the lock on the front door and opens
it. LINDSEY and CHLOE quickly walk over, pushing themselves in behind
CARRIE, who looks at them both with shock.

INT. CHICAGO TRIBUNE NEWSPAPER OFFICES
CARRIE looks at LINDSEY and CHLOE with a frown as she pushes the button
by the elevator.

                                  CARRIE
Geez, Lindsey. I know you’re dedicated,
but you could at least wait until I get
the door unlocked before you just charge
                  into the place.

                                 LINDSEY
I haven’t got time to explain. I need to
use the computers as fast as possible.

The three of them board the elevator as the door opens.

                                  CHLOE
                  It’s life or death.

INT. ELEVATOR
The door closes and the elevator begins to ascend as the three of them
wait on their floor.

                                 CARRIE
Fine. Use them to your heart’s content.
I’m putting on some coffee before the
                  suits show up.

                                 LINDSEY
Thank God you’re always in early.

                                 CARRIE
                  You guys look terrible.

                                 LINDSEY
We had a rough night. We couldn’t go
                  home.

                                 CARRIE
                  What’d you uncover? Watergate II?

                                  CHLOE
If what I saw is correct, Watergate could
just be a little speck in history
                  compared to this.

                                  CARRIE
                  Yeah, right.

CARRIE rolls her eyes. The elevator door opens.

                                  CARRIE
                  I’ll go make the coffee.

CARRIE exits as LINDSEY and CHLOE quickly run over towards the computer
systems, turning them on.

                                  CHLOE
I’m not sure how much of the information
would still be available through normal
                  channels.

CHLOE pulls up the Morgan Enterprises website, clicking on the same
links she did before and coming to a screen. On the screen, several
unreadable symbols pop up onto the screen. LINDSEY shakes her head.

                                 LINDSEY
                  It’s gibberish.

                                  CHLOE
It’s encrypted. The company must hacve
paid for an extra security installation
since I hacked into the system. I need
some time to hack through the firewalls.

                                 LINDSEY
Yeah, that sounds like nothing that I
could be helpful with, so I’ll be your
                  cheerleader.

                                  CHLOE
Let’s hope I can score for the home team.

CHLOE begins typing away on the computer as LINDSEY watches.

                                 LINDSEY
What did you see in there, Chloe? What
                  is Roland involved in?

                                  CHLOE
I’m not totally sure, Lindsey, but
whatever it is has classified tags.

                                 LINDSEY
                  Government tags?

                                  CHLOE
No, but for me to be as involved in the
company as I have been and not be able to
access this file, something’s up. From
what I read, Roland signed a contract
with a government agency to develop the
DNA research into vaccines for injured
soldiers, maybe even build up their
                  resistance to injury by cell
                  regeneration. It would make them
                  invulnerable.

                                LINDSEY
                  That doesn’t sound so bad.

                                  CHLOE
Not on its own, but I saw some
experimental subjects being used to test
out the research, like guinea pigs.

                                   LINDSEY
                  Human beings?

                                  CHLOE
Yes. But what bothers me is wondering
who chooses who receives this treatment.
What if they made Ted Bundy or Adolf
                  Hitler invincible? Everyone thought they
were charismatic and charming before the
truth came out. I know that Garry and I
use fragments of the same serum to
control our hormone level, but that is a
necessity and we have no choice.

                                 LINDSEY
But Roland just bought the company.
Wouldn’t the super soldier project be
                  Jack Morgan’s work?

                                  CHLOE
                  I don’t know. I only got a glance, which
is why I need to read the entire file to
                  understand what this means.

                                 LINDSEY
Yeah, I think I understand. I’ll let you
get to work on that while I figure out
what our next move is. I’m afraid to try
and go home with Jack Morgan still out
                  there.

                                    CHLOE
You should be. The man’s gone insane.

LINDSEY nods her head and walks over to the window, glancing out at the
streets as CHLOE continues to type.

INT. THE GRAVEYARD / EXT. CAM’S GRAVE
LONNIE ELAMB is standing by a tree as several crime scene investigators
are combing over the area. LOU’S dead body is being photographed as
LONNIE looks upset.

A well-dressed, dark-haired man named JAMES LOCKE and brown-haired,
blue-eyed female detective, EMILY HODGES (Halloween: The Series), walk
from the scene and over towards LONNIE.

                                  LOCKE
                  Detective Elamb, I’m Detective James
Locke, Internal Affairs, and this is my
                  partner...
                EMILY
Detective Emily Hodges. I believe we’re
already acquainted.

               LONNIE
Detective Hodges? Is this Bizarro World?
You took a job where you don’t have
servants?

                EMILY
It’s just to get me through law school at
Loyola, Lonnie. My father pulled some
strings and got me into internal affairs.
It’s safe and it pays very well.

               LONNIE
I see, where all the scum of the earth
can’t get to you and you can hide behind
all the real cops who actually do all of
the work.

                EMILY
Someone has to keep you guys in line.
Power corrupts, Lonnie. You know that.
There is a line that can’t be crossed
when policing the streets.

               LONNIE
What do you know about the streets,
Emily? If I remember correctly, you were
nothing but a spoiled little rich girl
whose daddy paid her way through college
and whose main acivities included tearing
down others and stirring up shit.

                EMILY
You know very little about me, Lonnie.
We may have been from the same town, but
we were on a different side of the
tracks. We got called here because a
detective found the body of his
girlfriend’s ex-husband and he’s claiming
to be totally innocent.

                 LONNIE
I am innocent.

                LOCKE
We’ll decide that. Rest assured, Lonnie,
that this wasn’t a spur of the moment
investigation. I’ve looked over your
file. How many “justified” shootings
have you had in the past few months?

               LONNIE
I don’t remember.
                                  LOCKE
I’d think you wouldn’t, considering that
you’ve already buried more men than most
cops do in their entire careers.

                                 LONNIE
I’m very thorough at my job. I always
                  get my man.

                                  EMILY
Yes, but the criminal justice system in
the real world is in place to rehab
criminals, not to shoot them all dead.

                                  LONNIE
Honey, you haven’t even gone out into the
                  real world yet.

EMILY’S feelings look hurt and she shakes her head.

                                  EMILY
Let’s just get this out of the way,
Lonnie. I’m not going to apologize for
having a father who loved me and
supported me. As for your opinion on my
past in Haddonfield, which do you prefer
being, the pot or the kettle? Because,
quite frankly, your high school years
weren’t much more different than mine.
                  Picking on others, sexually promiscuous,
and your father was the only reason you
stayed out of trouble. The only real
difference is that I didn’t commit
                  crimes.

                                 LONNIE
                  I didn’t kill Lou Austin.

                                  LOCKE
Mind telling us your whereabouts when he
                  was killed?

                                 LONNIE
                  I don’t really know because I don’t know
                  when he was killed.

                                  LOCKE
I’m gonna be frank here, Elamb. I don’t
like you. I don’t like the kind of cop
you are and I don’t like your provocative
attitude towards my partner. Now, we’re
gonna get to the meat of the matter here
and we’re gonna do it one of two ways:
the easy way or the hard way.

                                 LONNIE
Do you ever practice that speech in the
mirror at home? Do you puff out your
chest and growl at yourself? (mocking)
                  You feel lucky, punk?!

                                  LOCKE
I think you’re dirty, but I also think
that if you didn’t kill Austin, then your
girlfriend did and you’ll do anything you
can to cover for her. Where’s your car,
                  Elamb? How’d you get here?

                                 LONNIE
                  Kate is not a murderer.

                                  LOCKE
So you didn’t leave the hospital with her
last night to look for her missing son?

                                 LONNIE
You know I did or you wouldn’t have
                  asked.

                                  LOCKE
                  Did you find the kid?

                                 LONNIE
Do you see him, Locke? Hold on. I’ll
pull him out of my ass.

LONNIE starts to reach down, but LOCKE grabs his arm, looking him
straight in the eyes.

                                  LOCKE
This is no joke, Elamb. I’ve read
through your file, which means I’ve read
your life history, your reports, your
                  medical records, and your juvenile
criminal record back home. How you got
hired onto the Chicago Police Department
is beyond me, because if I was working
human resources you wouldn’t have made it
                  past a background check. You’re a sad
and pathetic example of what a cop should
be and it blows my mind that someone
thought it would be a good idea to have
                  you protect and serve.

                                 LONNIE
I came out here with Kate. Ty called and
said he had gotten away from Lou. We
came here to pick him up. I heard a
gunshot and I came here and found him.

                                  LOCKE
Then you won’t mind if we ask for your
                  firearm to compare for evidence?
                                 LONNIE
Actually, I do mind, but go right ahead.
It’s your personal time, not mine.

LONNIE hands over his gun to EMILY, who holds up a plastic bag, which
LONNIE drops the gun into before EMILY zips up the bag. LOCKE smirks
as he looks LONNIE over.

                                  LOCKE
And where did Dr. Austin happen to run
                  off to?

                                 LONNIE
I don’t know. Maybe she heard the shots
                  and got Ty to safety.

                                  LOCKE
Is that what you really believe? You
                  don’t think there’s a bit of symbolism
with the man being murdered at his son’s
grave? My guess is that Kate, riddled
with grief over the loss of her son,
struck out at the man who caused Cam’s
health problems in the first place.

                                 LONNIE
                  Kate is not a murderer.

                                   LOCKE
Is that so? Dead bodies seem to follow
                  her around.

                                 LONNIE
What an epiphany. She works at the
                  morgue.

                                  LOCKE
What about the two men who were killed
outside of her workplace in the alley?

                                 LONNIE
What does that have to do with anything?

                                  EMILY
                  Lonnie, we cross-referenced that diamond
necklace that was found in the victim’s
hand. It showed up in an old murder case
back in 1990. Jane Creed. It was logged
in as a belonging of hers.

                                  LOCKE
Or as Kate liked to call her: Mom.
                  Family heirloom.

                                  LONNIE
You’re looking at her for Lou’s murder,
                  aren’t you?

                                  LOCKE
Not only that, I have reason to believe
that you may be an accomplice. I find it
a strange coincidence that those two
muggers’s case winded up on your desk and
was put into the cold cases unsolved. I
also find it strange that you happen to
be the one to stumble onto the murder
scene of the ex-husband first. Add to
                  that the line-of-duty shootings,
                  including Julia Stark, Gordon Powers,
David Prophet, and Jorge Ramirez and I’d
say that corruption has found it’s way
into the department in your form.

                                 LONNIE
Are you implying that I tampered with the
                  murder scene?

                                  LOCKE
I know you did. It’s just a matter of
time before I expose you for the dirty
                  cop that you are.

                                 LONNIE
You smug son-of-a-bitch. You have no
idea who I am or what I’ve done.

                                  EMILY
We’re just doing our jobs, Lonnie. It
                  isn’t personal.

                                 LONNIE
Oh, it’s all personal. You two are a
waste of time. You’re the ones impeding
                  the investigation, not me.

                                  LOCKE
Better lawyer up, Elamb. We’re gonna get
you. Now, Hodges and I will be handling
all aspects of this case considering the
                  possible police corruption involved. I
suggest you go home and wait for us until
after we’ve had the crime scene
                  processed.

LOCKE smirks as EMILY looks uncertain.

                                 LONNIE
You’ll have to excuse me if I don’t
                  follow your orders.

LONNIE turns and walks out of the graveyard as LOCKE and EMILY watch
him exit. EMILY glances over at the dead body of LOU AUSTIN. EMILY
suddenly covers her mouth and walks over to the tree, vomiting at the
side of it. LOCKE smirks.

                                  LOCKE
Don’t worry. All rookies have that
reaction at the first crime scene.

                                  EMILY
                         (regaining her breath)
                  I didn’t think I’d be in the field. I
just thought I’d do a lot of interviews
                  concerning justifiable shootings.

                                  LOCKE
Get used to it...or is the small town
                  mayor’s daughter not strong enough
without him around to handle it?

                                  EMILY
                      (glares at Locke stubbornly)
I’m stronger than most give me credit
                  for...

                                 LOCKE
Whatever. Why don’t you clean your vomit
up? You’re polluting the crime scene.

LOCKE, hands in his pockets, walks over towards CAM’S grave as EMILY
looks at him disapprovingly. She glances over at the body one more
time and throws up again at the side of the tree.

INT. POLICE STATION
MARCUS CAGE is sitting at his desk, an ice pack on the back of his head
as he looks angry, like he’s had a rough night. He is talking on the
phone with his wife, WHITNEY CAGE, who is inside their home.

INT. CAGE HOME
WHITNEY CAGE looks upset.

                                 WHITNEY
What am I supposed to think, Marcus? You
didn’t come home at all last night.

INT. POLICE STATION
MARCUS sighs in annoyance. From here on out, we CUT BACK and FORTH
between them.

                                 MARCUS
It’s not what you think, Whitney. I was
on a case. I had to stake out a guy.

                                 WHITNEY
You could’ve called. I was worried.

                                   MARCUS
                  I know. I’m sorry. I just...I fell
                  asleep.
                                 WHITNEY
You’d better hope that’s all you were
doing, because if I find out you got a
little sugar momma on the side, you’ll be
falling asleep for a long, long time,
                  Marcus.

                                   MARCUS
                  Baby, I—

                                 WHITNEY
Don’t “baby” me, Marcus. This is
                  serious.

                                 MARCUS
Get off my back, Whitney! I’ve got a job
                  to do.

                                 WHITNEY
Fine. Do your job. It’s what’s more
                  important to you, anyways.

WHITNEY hangs up on him as MARCUS looks irritated. MARCUS hangs up the
phone as the door opens. KATE AUSTIN walks in, looking distraught and
lost. MARCUS looks at her with confusion as he stands.

                                   MARCUS
                  Kate—

                                  KATE
                  Place me under arrest, Marcus.

                                   MARCUS
                  What? Why?

                                  KATE
Just do it. I murdered my husband. I
killed Lou Austin in cold blood. Arrest
me. I’m willing to sign a full
                  confession.

KATE holds out her hands for him to put the cuffs on. MARCUS just
backs away, holding out his arms.

                                 MARCUS
                  I’m not arresting you.

                                  KATE
Please. Do it. Lonnie won’t do it. I
know he’ll try to help me. Just arrest
                  me. Please, Marcus.

MARCUS lowers his arms and nods. He takes his cuffs and slaps them on
KATE’S wrists.

                                   MARCUS
Kate Austin, you have the right to remain
silent. Anything you say can and will be
used against you in a court of law.

Tears begin falling from KATE’S eyes.

                                 MARCUS
You have the right to an attorney. If
you cannot afford an attorney, one will
                  be provided for you.

MARCUS leads KATE out of the room.

                                 MARCUS
                                  (o/s)
                  Do you understand these rights?

EXT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
FATEHR GABE MURPHY is standing outside in the courtyard with CARDINAL
NATHAN O’MALLEY (Halloween: The Series, Episode 5.18) as NATHAN goes
over the scene.

                                 NATHAN
All in all, Father Murphy, I’d say that
this church looks 100% better than it did
                  before.

                                  GABE
Just like it never burned down, Cardinal.

                                 NATHAN
You’re doing good work here, Gabe. I
                  must give you proper accolades.

                                  GABE
Thank you, Nathan. I appreciate the
                  compliment.

The wind begins to blow fiercely, causing GABE and NATHAN to look up at
the blowing trees with a bit of concern.

A car pulls up into the parking lot of the church as the wind gets
stronger. The car pulls to a stop and the engine is killed as NATHAN
frowns at the wind.

                                 NATHAN
                  Strange weather we’re having...

                                   GABE
                           (gazing at the wind)
                  Yes. I’ve noticed...

Out of the car climbs GABE’S brother, DILLON MURPHY, a young man with
dark hair and bright blue eyes. He is dressed in a suit and tie,
carrying a briefcase. However, he does look a little frazzled, a
forming beard on his face.
                                   GABE
                  Dillon? This is a surprise.

                                 DILLON
I couldn’t sit in that shit hole of a
town any more. I had to get out for a
                  while...pardon my French.

                                 NATHAN
I’ll leave you two to catch up.

                                     GABE
                  See you, Nathan.

NATHAN nods goodbye at both of them as GABE turns to DILLON.

                                  GABE
I hope you didn’t come visit just to see
                  Lindsey, Dillon. She’s...moved on with
her life and she’s quite clear about how
she feels about your last encounter.

                                 DILLON
I fail to see how me and Holly was any of
                  Lindsey’s business...and no, I didn’t
come up here just for her. If I happen
to run into her, though, sure, we’ll see
                  what happens.

                                  GABE
                  She’s with Roland Stark, Dillon.

DILLON looks hurt and goes silent for a a few seconds.

                                 DILLON
Is she mentally challenged or something?
I mean, could she have picked someone I
hate a little more or what?

                                   GABE
I’m sorry. It is good to have you here,
                  though.

                                 DILLON
It’s good to be here. Sorry I had that
little rough patch after Karen died, but
I’m back to normal now. I just needed a
                  little time.

                                  GABE
I’m glad you’ve dealt with your issues.

                                 DILLON
Now, I could use a place to stay while
                  I’m in town.

                                     GABE
My door is always open to you.

                                 DILLON
I was hoping to hear you say that.

DILLON puts his arm around GABE’S shoulder as they walk towards the
church. The wind really picks up, almost knocking over some signs in
the front of the church. DILLON frowns.

                                 DILLON
I know that this is the Windy City, but
                  this is a little ridiculous.

EXT. LAKE MICHIGAN
There is a log cabin deep in the woods on the edge of the lake.
Several pathways lead down hiking trails, one to the long boat docks,
as well as off into the woods. Row boats rest at the side of each dock
as the wind blows lightly through the area.

However, the real sight is the circle or candles on the ground with
JEREMIAH LONGFELLOW is sitting in the middle of it, his solid white
eyes staring blankly ahead. The wind begins to pick up and blows
JEREMIAH’S long white stringy hair out of his face, where his rotted
teeth appear behind a sinister smile. The wind becomes fierce, but the
candles remain lit as JEREMIAH stands, spreading out his arms as if
welcoming the wind.

                                 JEREMIAH
He is here! He is here!

Out of the woods comes a SHADOWY FIGURE leading a smaller FIGURE.
GARRY JACOBS, a/k/a GARRYDEVIL, has an exhausted TY AUSTIN by the hand,
pulling him forward as he moves. TY barely keeps up, tears strolling
down his face as they walk.

                                JEREMIAH
The blood must flow for the Horsemen to
                  ride.

                              GARRYDEVIL
Yes. Tonight, the beginning of the end
                  is nigh.

                                    TY
                          (looking at Jeremiah)
Why doesn’t he have eyes?! What’s wrong
                  with them?!

JEREMIAH just begins to laugh, walking forward while lowering a small
knife from under his sleeve.

                                JEREMIAH
The blood of the innocent shall flow!

JEREMIAH grabs TY’S hand and cuts a slit into the palm. TY cries out
in pain as JEREMIAH holds TY’S hand over the circle, where an upside
down symbol (A circle with a ‘Z’ and an upside down cross inside of it)
is drawn in red paint on the ground. TY’S blood begins to drip onto
the circle as he begins to cry.

The area inside the symbol begins to glow red as TY begins to float in
mid-air, the blood dripping from his hand into it. TY seems paralyzed,
as if unable to control his body as the ground begins to open up
underneath him.

As the ground opens, GARRYDEVIL and JEREMIAH watch on with smiles.
HELLHOUNDS begin coming up out of the ground. The large black dogs,
with razor sharp teeth sticking out of their mouths, horns sprouting
from their heads, and bright red eyes glowing brightly as drool drops
from their lips, take off into the woods, growling and biting as the
ground begins to shake underneath all of them.

EXT. CHICAGO GRAVEYARD
LONNIE ELAMB looks around as the ground shakes underneath him, like an
earthquake. Car horns begin to go off as LONNIE looks shocked at what
is going on.

INT. GRAVEYARD
JAMES LOCKE looks around as the ground shakes, some tombstones falling
down around him. EMILY HODGES holds herself up by a tree, covering her
mouth as she pukes again on the ground.

INT. POLICE STATION
MARCUS and KATE look up to see items falling off of desks, lights
flickering, and windows shattering. MARCUS grabs KATE and pulls her
underneath a doorway as they both look frighteningly around the room.

EXT. CHURCH
GABE and DILLON turn and see a statue fall towards CARDINAL O’MALLEY.
DILLON runs forward and shoves him out of the way as the statue hits
where he was standing.

INT. CHICAGO TRIBUNE NEWSPAPER OFFICES
LINDSEY and CHLOE stop typing on the computer as CARRIE McGWIRE cowers
in the corner. LINDSEY drops down and hides underneath a desk as CHLOE
follows suit.

EXT. LAKE MICHIGAN
GARRYDEVIL and JEREMIAH face the floating TY as HELLHOUNDS continue to
pour out of the hole in the ground, running off into the woods.
however, fire shoots up out of the ground, a large amount of fire. TY
is blown backwards, landing on the ground with a frightened look on his
face. The roar of engines are also heard. Loud engines.

TY watches as four figures on Harley-Davidson motorcycles, silhouetted
against the fire’s heat, ride out of ZANGRAEL’S hell side by side.
GARRYDEVIL smirks at the FIGURES on the motorcycles. They all rev
their engines, as we only see their feet. One guy has fringe coming
off the top of his brown boots. Another has snakeskin boots, while one
seems to have some sort of robe, and the final RIDER seems to have
steel-toed boots. They all rev up again as GARRYDEVIL smiles
demonically at them.

                               GARRYDEVIL
You know what is happening. You know
what you must prevent. Eliminate our
enemies and serve your master well.

                                   TY
(staring at the bikers in disbelief)
                  But...this is impossible.

                                JEREMIAH
The trumpet will sound and the dead shall
rise! Nothing is impossible with our
                  master, Zangrael!

JEREMIAH laughs demonically as the FOUR BIKERS rev their engines,
taking off into the woods, never showing their faces. JEREMIAH’S high-
pitched laughter can be heard over the entire wooded area.

INT. POLICE STATION
MARCUS CAGE is seated in his office, filling out paperwork. KYLE CREED
comes walking through the door, looking very angry.

                                  KYLE
What the hell are you thinking by
                  arresting my sister?!

                                 MARCUS
We tend to do that to people who confess
                  to murder.

                                 KYLE
Oh, fuck you! She didn’t kill anyone and
you know it! Let her out! Now!

MARCUS stands, getting directly in KYLE’S view.

                                 MARCUS
I think you’d better take your tone down
                  a notch, private.

                                   KYLE
You’re talking a to a United State Marine
and I expect you to show me a little
                  fucking respect.

                                 MARCUS
You’re talking to an ex-Navy SEAL who is
a current detective and you’d better put
the recoil in your springs before you get
smacked down. I don’t give a damn that
                  you’re a Jarhead or that you’re Kate’s
brother. I will smack you down with
                  equality, bitch.

MARCUS and KYLE stare angrily at each other as LONNIE walks through the
door, looking disturbed.

                                 LONNIE
Guys, you felt the earthquake, right?
The news is saying that nothing came up
on the seismographs. What the hell is
                  going on?

                                  KYLE
A very good fucking question. Kate’s in
jail, Lonnie. Marcus arrested her. She
called me with her one phone call and I
want to know just what the fuck this
faggot ex-SEAL was thinking when he
                  brought her in.

                                  LONNIE
                  Arrested? For what?

                                 MARCUS
She confessed to the murder of Lou
Austin. I took her into custody, let her
make her phone call, and then alerted
Locke and Hodges on the status of the
arrest. They’ll be by to brief her any
                  moment.

                                  KYLE
                  She got a fucking lawyer?

                                 MARCUS
                  Said she didn’t want one.

                                     KYLE
                  That’s bullshit.

                                 MARCUS
It’s free will bullshit, because this is
the way she wants it, fuckwad.

                                 LONNIE
                  I want to see her.

                                 MARCUS
She’s in interrogation awaiting Locke and
Hodges. She doesn’t want to see you.

                                    LONNIE
                  That’s too bad.

LONNIE exits the room as MARCUS and KYLE look at each other with
annoyance.

INT. CHICAGO TRIBUNE OFFICES
LINDSEY and CHLOE are back on the computer as CARRIE cleans up some of
the mess behind them. MAX DENTON, an older but fit man with gray hair
and scowl on his face, walks into the room.

                                     MAX
What the hell did you do to the place,
                  Wallace? It’s a pigsty!

                                 LINDSEY
Did you not feel the earthquake, Mr.
                  Denton?

                                  MAX
Of course. What do you think I am?! A
moron?! I was giving you a hard time!
Lighten up! Carrie, give Lindsey a
                  cigarette. She needs to relax!

                                 CARRIE
I don’t think she smokes, sir.

                                   MAX
                               (to Chloe)
Who the hell are you?! Did I hire you
and forget?! I know I was getting older,
but damn! How could I forget a dish like
                  you?! Mama mia!

                                  CHLOE
My name is Chloe. I’m a friend of
                  Lindsey’s. A source for a story.

                                   MAX
I was just testing you! Ha, ha! Got
you, too! I’ll be in my office if anyone
                  needs me!

MAX exits the office with a laugh as CHLOE shakes her head, looking
back onto the screen.

                                  CHLOE
                  Does he always yell?

                                 LINDSEY
                  Only when he’s talking...

                                  CHLOE
                  I think I got it.

CHLOE hits a button and a diagram comes up. It seems to be a blueprint
for a human being...only it has figures drawn inside of it. Inhuman
figures. Scary figures.

                                 LINDSEY
What in hell is this creepy shit?

                                    CHLOE
                  It can’t be...

                                   LINDSEY
                  What?
                                  CHLOE
I don’t understand. These look like
demons or something inside these models.
But what connection does Jack Morgan have
                  to demons?

                                 LINDSEY
                  Maybe he’s a closet weirdo...other than
                  the whole werewolf thing.

                                 CARRIE
Are you two on something? Demons?
                  Werewolves? You sound like weirdos
                  yourself.

EXT. CHICAGO TRIBUNE OFFICE BUILDING
The sound of motorcycle engines are heard roaring over the scene. The
four BIKERS come roaring down the road. As they pull in, we get
glances of each of their familiar faces.

The first one is dressed in black jeans, black cowboy boots, a black
Harley-Davidson T-shirt, and a black leather biker’s vest. He has long
graying dark hair that stops just at his shoulders. His face is
covered with dark gray stubble while in his hands, he holds a sawed-off
shot gun. The late werewolf hunter, GARRETT SLADE (HtS: The Rogue’s
Path, Episode 1.16).

The second one is the late HAWK TONKA (HtS: Episode 1.4), a large
muscular Native American male. He wears feathers in his long jet-black
hair as his war-painted face is topped with a headband. He also has on
a brown vest with fringe and brown fringe boots.

The third one is the late GORDON POWERS (HtS: The Rogue’s Path, Episode
1.15), a tall, muscular bald-headed black man, dressed in a bright
colored black suit with silver-toed boots.

The fourth one is the late ALISTAIR GREY (HtS: The Rogue’s Path,
Episodes 1.6-1.7). ALISTAIR wears a long, grey trench coat, buttoned
tightly with black boots. He wears a wide-brimmed hat. His skin is
extremely pale, without much pigment at all.

There is, however, one difference about each of them. Their eyes.
They are bordered with a hypnotic glowing red color. They move in
unison, all getting off their motorcycles at the same time.

SECURITY GUARD #1 walks forward and draws his weapon as GARRETT pulls
out his sawed-off shot gun from the side of his motorcycle, pumping it.

                            SECURITY GUARD #1
Hey! You can’t have that here! Drop
                  your weapon!

A tomahawk flies into SECURITY GUARD #1’S head, sending him flying back
to the ground with a thud. Blood pours from his lethal wound as
ALISTAIR looks down at the SECURITY GUARD with a grin, running his
hands along the brim of his hat in a mock salute before stepping over
his limp body and following GARRETT into the building.
HAWK does a war call, yipping loudly and doing a war dance as SECURITY
GUARD #2 draws his weapon and fires at them. GORDON takes a knife out
of a sheath and throws it forward, hitting SECURITY GUARD #2 in the
throat. SECURITY GUARD #2 drops dead instantly as GARRETT kicks open
the front door, raising his gun and opening fire on PEDESTRIANS inside.

Bullets fly into the building, sending several PEOPLE dead to the
ground as ALISTAIR lunges forward, burying his razor-sharp teeth into
one of the OFFICE WORKERS.

HAWK takes out a bow and arrow from a sheath on his back, shooting a
flaming arrow into the heart of a MAN, dropping him to the ground
permanently. The foursome moves into the building as GORDON holds up
two Uzis and sprays bullets into some OFFICE WORKERS.

INT. THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE OFFICE
CHLOE and LINDSEY are huddled around the corner, clicking through
several screens as CARRIE sits at her desk. Suddenly, sounds of
gunfire and screaming are heard.

LINDSEY turns, seeing smoke in the hallways. CHLOE stands up, looking
over her shoulder as CARRIE stands with a frown. Other WORKERS come to
gather and look at the noise. LINDSEY walks forward with a puzzled
look on her face.

LINDSEY’S POV
Out of the smoke comes FOUR FIGURES: GARRETT, HAWK, ALISTAIR, and
GORDON, walking side by side and staring staight ahead with glowing red
eyes. ALISTAIR snarls his teeth as GARRETT pumps his gun.

                                 LINDSEY
Oh, shit! Everybody get out of here now!
                  Chloe, time to go!

LINDSEY pulls on CHLOE as she stands in fright. GORDON kicks a dead
body on the ground, sending it flying through the window with a crash.

GARRETT fires an explosive shot from his shotgun. CARRIE’S chest
erupts with blood as she is sent flying backwards and into the computer
console behind her, knocking the whole cubicle down. LINDSEY grabs
CHLOE’S hand and they take off running for the back exit.

HAWK lets out a war cry and runs, over, grabbing CARRIE’S head and
scalping the top of her skull off with a hunting knife and a sick rip
at the flesh. HAWK holds up her hair in victory, giving a war cry as
CHLOE and LINDSEY run through the exit door.

MAX DENTON steps out of his office, looking angry.

                                   MAX
What in the hell are you people doing out
                  here?! Having a crack party?!

GARRETT fires a shot into MAX’S shoulder, sending him flying back into
his office with a thud. GARRETT, GORDON, HAWK, and ALISTAIR walk as
EMPLOYEES try to run. ALISTAIR rips through a couple of guys with his
long nails as GORDON shoots some with his Uzis. They leave a trail of
dead bodies in their wake as they pursue LINDSEY and CHLOE out the back
door.

INT. STAIRWELL
LINDSEY and CHLOE come running down the stairs, looking back up in a
panic as they run. CHLOE stops, gripping the rail hard. LINDSEY stops
and turns.

                                 LINDSEY
Chloe, we can’t slow down! Come on!

CHLOE turns, her eyes now a bright yellow as her intense face is
repressing extreme pain.

                                 CHLOE
                  Lindsey...

LINDSEY looks at her with concern. CHLOE lowers her head with
intensity.

                                 CHLOE
                  Run...

CHLOE screams as her shirt rips down the middle. LINDSEY’S eyes widen
as CHLOE begins to transform in front of her eyes. LINDSEY shakes her
head as she backs away.

                                 LINDSEY
Why did I have to get my life?

LINDSEY darts down the stairs as fast as she can, leaving a fetal-like
CHLOE struggling as she falls to the floor. CHLOE’S clothes begin
ripping off as her body shifts shape. Two clawed feet explode from her
shoes and pantyhose and her skin begins to turn green.

GARRETT, HAWK, GORDON, and ALISTAIR come walking down the stairs, evil
intentions on their faces. However, they hesitate when a slimy green
CHLOEMONSTER rises from the ground, her sharp teeth drooling with
hunger as she looks them over. The FOURSOME waits for her to move.

CHLOEMONSTER leaps up the stairs, running at them with her hammered
arms and clawed feet. GARRETT opens fire, narrowly missing as
CHLOEMONSTER latches herself onto the ceiling before scaling it and
running over the top of them before looking down at them.

GORDON and GARRETT both fire off shots that miss her as she leaps like
a spider at ALISTAIR. ALISTAIR dodges CHLOEMONSTER as she hits the
edge of the doorway.

CHLOEMONSTER looks back to see GARRETT tilt his head with an evil grin
while ALISTAIR mock salutes her by running his hand across the brim of
his hat. CHLOEMONSTER turns and takes off through the offices as HAWK
runs forward with a war cry, throwing his hunting knife through the
air. It twirls towards CHLOEMONSTER, hitting her in the gut before
sending her sailing through the office window with a crash.
EXT. THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE OFFICE BUILDING
LINDSEY comes running out of the building with fear, just as
CHLOEMONSTER sails two stories through the air and lands with a thud on
the sidewalk.

                                    LINDSEY
                  Chloe!

LINDSEY runs over to the injured CHLOEMONSTER as she begins to
transform back into a now naked CHLOE CHRISTIANSON. CHLOE opens her
eyes, still breathing as LINDSEY reaches down and helps her stand,
supporting her underneath her weight as she wraps CHLOE with her long
sweat shirt, revealing a tight-fitting wife beater on LINDSEY.

                                     CHLOE
Go. Leave me. You’ll get caught.

                                 LINDSEY
                  I’m not leaving you!

LINDSEY turns as GARRETT, HAWK, GORDON, and ALISTAIR come walking side
by side out of the stairwell leading to the street. LINDSEY’S eyes
widen as she jerks CHLOE away from the scene.

                                 LINDSEY
                             (through tears)
                  Stay with me, Chloe!

LINDSEY drags a limping CHLOE into traffic as cars swerve to avoid
them, crashing into each other.

                                  CHLOE
                  I’m just slowing you down!

                                 LINDSEY
Either we both make it or neither of us
                  does!

LINDSEY and CHLOE stagger across the street and speed up as GARRETT,
HAWK, ALISTAIR, and GORDON climb back onto their motorcycles, starting
up the engines. They all back out of the parking lot and tear off down
the road. Sirens can be heard in the distance as the foursome turns
down a side road. People have now gathered around the building and
some are crying and screaming as fire engines are heard honking their
horns in the distance.

INT. POLICE STATION
KATE is seated inside an interrogation room, looking dishevelled. The
door opens and LONNIE walks in, a worried look on his face. KATE
stands, looking away from him as if ashamed of herself.

                                 LONNIE
Leave it to you to leave me stranded in a
cemetery while you go confess to a
                  felony.

                                     KATE
Just another day in the life of Kate
Austin.

               LONNIE
What are you thinking?

                KATE
I’m thinking that I didn’t want you to
see me like this.

               LONNIE
Did you kill Lou?

                KATE
I confessed, didn’t I?

               LONNIE
I don’t believe you did it.

                KATE
It is what it is, Lonnie.

               LONNIE
Talk to me. Let me know what’s going
on...what I can do.

                KATE
Find Ty. That’s all I want you to do.
Find Ty and make sure he’s taken care of.
He’s been through so much to be so young.

               LONNIE
Like mother, like son.

                 KATE
           (tears forming)
After you find Ty, I don’t want to see
you again. I don’t want you to visit me.
I don’t want you waiting for me.

               LONNIE
No...

                KATE
When I’m gone, go on with your life.
Find a nice girl. Settle down. Forget
about me.

               LONNIE
I’ll never forget about you.

                KATE
I just want you to be happy, Lonnie. You
never would’ve been happy with me.

               LONNIE
No! This isn’t over! I’m going to prove
that you didn’t kill Lou. I’m going to
                  get you out of this!

                                  KATE
Lonnie, stop it! Let it go! Just find
Ty and move on with your life.

The door opens, allowing EMILY HODGES and JAMES LOCKE into the room.
LONNIE and KATE turn, looking at them and feeling awkward.

                                  LOCKE
I thought I warned you stay away from our
                  case, Elamb.

                                 LONNIE
But you didn’t warn me to stay away from
                  my girlfriend...not that you could,
                  anyways.

                                  LOCKE
You know, I could issue a subpoena for
your testimony about whatever you two
                  were just discussing.

                                 LONNIE
The weather, the plight of the panda
bear, your overdone Ken-doll hair. Small
                  talk, really.

                                  EMILY
Lonnie, can you please step outside while
                  we interview Dr. Austin?

                                 LONNIE
This isn’t over, Kate. I’ll be back.

LONNIE exits as KATE sits back down. LOCKE and EMILY enter the room,
sitting across from her on the other side. LOCKE puts down a recorder
and presses “Record” on the tape.

                                  LOCKE
This is James Locke and Emily Hodges,
                  performing the interrogation of confessed
                  murderer, Dr. Kathryn Austin. Dr.
Austin, do you have any objections to
                  being tape recorded?

                                  KATE
                  No. Go on.

                                  EMILY
Dr. Austin, we have a lot of questions
about the alleged murder of your ex-
husband, Lou Austin. We’ve pulled old
records which indicate that you two had
                  several domestic disputes during your
marriage, including but not limited to
the day your late son Cameron was injured
                  and born premature.

                                  KATE
That’s true. Look. I’ll tell you
whatever you want to know. I’ll sign
whatever you want me to sign. I killed
Lou Austin. I shot him in cold blood and
I would do it again. What more do you
                  need to know?

EMILY studies KATE’S face with fascination as LOCKE smiles. EMILY
looks skeptical.

                                  LOCKE
Just let us in on whatever your little
                  heart desires, doctor.

KATE looks determined as she nods her head, prepared to confess.

INT. CHICAGO ALLEYWAY
LINDSEY is helping the injured CHLOE limp down the alley as people have
come out onto their fire escapes to watch the chaos down the block.
CHLOE collapses onto the pavement, no clothes covering her body.
LINDSEY props CHLOE up against the alley wall before looking at CHLOE’S
bloody wound.

                                 LINDSEY
Chloe, I know you’re hurting, but we have
got to move. It won’t be long before
                  those...whatever they are...come back.

                                     CHLOE
                  I can’t. I’m bleeding too badly.

                                 LINDSEY
Stay alive, Chloe. You’ve done too much
                  to go out this way.

Tears form in CHLOE’S eyes.

                                     CHLOE
I’m with you. I just need a minute.

                               MALE VOICE
                  Lookie what we have here.

LINDSEY turns as CHLOE glances behind her. Standing a few feet away
from them are FOUR TEENAGE BOYS and A TEENAGE GIRL.

The leader, DARIUS WRIGHT (Episode 1.13), is a very fit young black man
with muscles protruding from his body. His braided hair sticks tightly
to his skull as he studies CHLOE over with a smirk.

                                    DARIUS
                              (licking his lips)
A naked little bitch just ripe for
                  consumption.

                                 LINDSEY
                              (frightened)
No, thanks. No consumption today. She
                  needs a hospital.

                                 DARIUS
                  A hospital...the hospitals don’t come
down here in the shadowlands anymore. Do
                  they, Tyrone?

A skinny black man named TYRONE YOUNG shakes his head.

                                 TYRONE
Nah, man. I think we’ll have to take
real good care of these two ourselves.

A white boy, BLADE BOWERS, smiles at them, revealing gold-plated teeth
with spiked blonde hair.

                                 BLADE
That’s right. We can play doctor and
shit. I can check your bread baskets.

A Hispanic male, RICO SANTANA, a blue bandana covering his long black
hair, smirks.

                                  RICO
I think you mama citas are on the wrong
                  side of the cabana.

                                 LINDSEY
Please. We don’t want any trouble. We
just want to get to the hospital.

The girl, a Hispanic gal named SADIE SANTANA, steps forward, pointing
her finger in LINDSEY’S face.

                                  SADIE
You’re trespassing on our turf, bitch!
                  You’ve found trouble!

                                 DARIUS
You ain’t going to no hospital, lady.
You’re gonna stay right here with us and
we’re gonna take care of you ourselves.

                                   CHLOE
                  Please. Let us go.

DARIUS takes out a gun and points it at CHLOE, cocking it.

                                  DARIUS
Shut your whiny fucking mouth, you bitch.
You ain’t listening! You belong to us
                  now!

                                 LINDSEY
I wouldn’t upset her if I were you.

                                 DARIUS
                  You ain’t me, bitch.

                                  LINDSEY
                  Right. I shower.

DARIUS whacks LINDSEY across the head with the butt of his gun, sending
LINDSEY to the ground with a thud. CHLOE cradles LINDSEY in her arms,
helping her keep her balance.

                                 LINDSEY
                  What’s your problem?!

                                 DARIUS
                  I ain’t getting’ off. That’s the
                  problem. I need services.

                                  BLADE
You service us and we’ll let you go.

                                  TYRONE
Be prepared. I got lots to service.

TYRONE begins unzipping his pants. Suddenly, a baseball bat swings
into the picture, connecting with TYRONE’S chest. TYRONE falls
backwards to the ground as everyone turns to see bald-headed black man
LAZARUS LEWIS (HtS: The Rogue’s Path, Episodes 1.1, 1.10) wielding the
bat, an intense look on his face.

                                 LAZARUS
Now, tell me which one of you mother
                  fuckers is gonna be next.

LAZARUS stares at DARIUS with his head lowered in attack position as
DARIUS studies him.

                                 DARIUS
Lazarus, what the fuck are you doin’?

                                 LAZARUS
                  Protecting my benefactor, mother fucker.
The last thing this neighborhood needs is
for you mother fuckers to start killing
                  white girls, especially a reporter.

                                  BLADE
                  You know these bitches?

                                 LAZARUS
That’s right, asshole. I know one of
them. And the first one of you bastards
to harm a hair on their heads is going to
see the tail end of my Louisville Slugger
upside the side of your jaw.

LAZARUS stares at them with his intense eyes, wielding his bat.

                                 DARIUS
                  Get him!

BLADE charges first, and is met with a jab to the stomach with the bat
from LAZARUS. LAZARUS pulls back and nails BLADE over the back with
the bat. BLADE cries out in pain as he falls to the ground next to the
already injured TYRONE.

RICO charges LAZARUS, but is met by a backwards jab with the bat,
poking with force in the ribs. LAZARUS swings and connects with RICO’S
face, sending him spinning sideways into the air, thumping the ground
with force.

LAZARUS turns, looking angrily at DARIUS, who pulls out a switch blade.
He makes the blade pop out as they stare at each other for a few
seconds.

                                 DARIUS
You’re going to regret fucking with us.

DARIUS lunges with the knife. LAZARUS sidesteps him, spins around, and
swings the bat, connecting with DARIUS’S back. DARIUS howls in pain.
LAZARUS grips DARIUS by his hair and yanks him up, talking into
DARIUS’S ear.

                                 LAZARUS
                  Any regrets for you?

LAZARUS drops the bat and decks DARIUS with a right. DARIUS falls to
the ground with TYRONE, BLADE, and RICO, who are moaning in pain on the
ground. SADIE quickly helps BLADE and RICO stand. They ponder going
after LAZARUS again. He stares at them with intensity, waiting.

                                  SADIE
Rico, we should get the fuck out of here.

                                  RICO
                  We’ll get him later, Darius.

                                 DARIUS
Let’s get the hell out of here! Lazarus,
                  you’re fucking dead!

DARIUS, TYRONE, BLADE, RICO, and SADIE exit, running as fast as they
can. LAZARUS turns to LINDSEY and CHLOE, frowning.

                                 LAZARUS
What the fuck are you doing in this part
                  of town...and she’s goddamned naked?!
                                 LINDSEY
Lazarus, thank God I bribed you well.

                                 LAZARUS
You need to get off the streets.

                                  CHLOE
                  I need a doctor.

                                 LAZARUS
                  I don’t do house calls.

                                 LINDSEY
Can you help us get to a phone or
something so that we can call someone?

                                 LAZARUS
Hell, the only place in this neighborhood
you’re gonna be able to get any help is
                  St. Peter’s.

                                 LINDSEY
Perfect! I know Father Murphy well. Can
you give us an escort, big guy?

                                 LAZARUS
Hell, I got nothin’ better to do. Come
on, lady. Let’s get you some help.

LAZARUS helps CHLOE stand, walking her down the alley as LINDSEY takes
the other side. They all begin walking down the alley in the direction
opposite where DARIUS’S gang went.

INT. POLICE STATION
LONNIE is seated silently at his desk as MARCUS goes through some case
files at his other desk.

                                 MARCUS
Do you think she did it?

                                   LONNIE
                  No. I don’t.

                                 MARCUS
Why would she confess to a murder she
                  didn’t commit?

                                 LONNIE
                  I don’t know, Marcus. Maybe someone’s
                  threatening her...or whoever’s got Ty
will hurt him unless she takes the rap
                  for Lou’s murder.

                                 MARCUS
Where are you going to look for Ty?
                                 LONNIE
                  I don’t know. Until a few minutes ago, I
thought she had found him and taken him
                  to safety.

                                 MARCUS
This ain’t a city for a kid to be running
                  around.

The door opens, allowing EMILY HODGES and JAMES LOCKE to enter the
room. LOCKE glares over at LONNIE.

                                  LOCKE
We have her dead to rights. She
confessed everything. This is air tight.
If we find out you helped her, you’re
                  going down with her.

LONNIE just stares at LOCKE without a word.

                                  EMILY
She did make it clear that you weren’t
involved, Lonnie, if it means anything.

LONNIE just stares sadly at his desk as LOCKE and EMILY exit the
building. ROGER McCALL enters from across the hall.

                                  ROGER
Lonnie, we just got a call for all
                  available units. The Chicago Tribune
Building was just shot up by a gang of
men on motorcycles. There are multiple
                  deaths and injuries.

LONNIE stands, alarmed.

                                  LONNIE
                  Lindsey?

                                  ROGER
                  I don’t know.

                                  MARCUS
                  I’ll drive.

MARCUS stands as LONNIE follows him quickly out the door.

INT. STARK CORPORATION
ROLAND STARK is seated inside the building, a shot glass full of scotch
in front of him as he fills the glass to the rim from his bottle. He
takes a huge gulp of it, looking stressed as he glances over at a
picture sitting on his desk. In the picture are ROLAND, JANE CREED,
and a younger version of KATE.

The door opens and ROLAND’S secretary, VICKY SIMPSON, walks through the
door, looking panicked.
                                  VICKY
Roland, I tried to stop this guy, but he
                  insists on seeing you.

                                 ROLAND
I’m not seeing anyone tonight, Vicky.

JACK MORGAN walks through the door, looking at ROLAND with anger.
VICKY walks out of the room after ROLAND motions her to leave.

                                  JACK
No time for an old friend?

                                 ROLAND
Jack, what are you doing here? If the
                  police find you here—

                                  JACK
Are you happy? Are you pleased that you
stole my company out from under me?!

JACK begins to get angry, his eyes beginning to flash red.

                                 ROLAND
Jack, the company was for sale. Your
wife was going to sell it for scraps. If
it wasn’t me who bought it, it would’ve
                  been someone else.

                                  JACK
You have no idea what you’ve purchased,
Roland! With that research comes a
                  curse!

                                 ROLAND
I know exactly what I purchased, Jack.

                                  JACK
Chloe Christianson broke into the files,
Roland. She knows about the SHELL
                  Project.

                                 ROLAND
                  How did this happen?

                                  JACK
She works there. She took the
                  information to your nosy reporter
                  girlfriend!

                                 ROLAND
Lindsey knows about the SHELL Project?

                                  JACK
                  Have you seen the news?

                                 ROLAND
                  No. What is it?

                                  JACK
Your girlfriend is in way over her head.
Her building at the paper got ripped to
shreds by four men on motorcycles. It’s
                  all over the television. My
                  disappearance is old news.

ROLAND grabs the remote control and flips on the television. TRACEY
CARLSON is reporting live from The Chicago Tribune building downtown.

ON TV
TRACEY stands facing us with a microphone as the building smokes behind
her from the burning.

                                 TRACEY
It was only a little while ago that four
                  unidentified men on motorcycles barged
into this downtown newspaper building and
blasted away at the employees of one of
the city’s biggest papers. There are
several casualties in the attack with few
                  survivors...

INT. STARK’S OFFICE
ROLAND turns to JACK with anger.

                                 ROLAND
This wasn’t part of the deal!

                                    JACK
Remember who’s in charge of the deal,
Roland! It’s not you! Lindsey Wallace
has butt her way into a coffin and she
will end up there as a result of her
                  actions, right next to Chloe.

                                 ROLAND
I won’t let you harm her, Jack.

                                  JACK
I’m not running the show, Roland. It
wasn’t me who sent them in there. My
advice to you is to sever all ties with
that bitch before you end up being next.

                                 ROLAND
                  Is that a threat?

                                  JACK
I’m just the messenger, Roland. You’d be
wise to tread lightly. Know your place
or be put in it. Zangrael is coming.
JACK turns and walks out of the room as ROLAND looks angry. He glances
over at the television as GARTH MITCHUM walks into the room with his
arms crossed in front of him.

                                  GARTH
What would you like for me to do, sir?

                                  ROLAND
Get the car. We’re going to the Chicago
                  Tribune.

EXT. A STREET
LAZARUS, CHLOE, and LINDSEY come limping down the street as LINDSEY and
LAZARUS support the injured CHLOE.

LINDSEY looks up ahead.

LINDSEY’S POV
ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH is just down the road, as the streets are
pretty much empty, some brick walls in alleys painted with graffiti.

EXT. STREET
LINDSEY, CHLOE, and LAZARUS pick up their pace.

                                  LINDSEY
                  There it is! Hurry!

INT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
FATHER GABE MURPHY is seated, reading through some of FR. FRANCIS’S old
journals, immersed in the readings. There is the picture of the dead
body in the graveyard, the earth crumbling, a bright red moon, stars
falling from the sky, a dark figure looming over a large city, a woman
in labor, and The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. DILLON MURPHY comes
walking quickly from the other room.

                                 DILLON
Father Francis had some pretty weird
                  ideas, didn’t he?

                                  GABE
Father Francis was studying the end of
times. The Apocalypse. The book of
Revelation. He wasn’t convinced that The
Holy Bible told the whole story, so he
                  started looking at other sources.
Anything he could get his hands on.

                                 DILLON
Sounds like he needed to get out of the
church every once in a while.

                                  GABE
Father Francis believed that we are
currently living in the endtimes, that
                  the Apoclaypse is slowly happening
without notice. He told of a death that
would open the gates of hell, allowing
the Four Horsemen of the Apoclaypse to
ride into the world and unleash their
                  plagues upon mankind.

                                 DILLON
I remember that story. I remember they
                  were different colors or something.

EXT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
LINDSEY, CHLOE, and LAZARUS come limping down the street. However, the
sound of engines roaring can be heard in the background, getting
louder. Getting closer. LINDSEY stops and turns as LAZARUS looks
confused.

                                   LAZARUS
                  What is it?

                                   LINDSEY
                  They’re back. Run!

Just as they turn to move faster, the four bikers, GARRETT, HAWK,
ALISTAIR, and GORDON come riding in SLO-MO on their motorcycles around
the corner, staring straight ahead at the threesome limping down the
road.

SLO-MO CU on white male GARRETT SLADE, who takes out his gun from the
side of his motorcycle.

                                   GABE
                                  (v/o)
The white horse represents conquest, as
they go out and conquer the earth. He is
                  the leader.

SLO-MO CU on the Indian, HAWK TONKA

                                   GABE
                                  (v/o)
The red horse is the warrior, who likes
to persecute the people with his weapons.

SLO-MO CU on black man, GORDON POWERS

                                   GABE
                                  (v/o)
The black horse unleashes plagues on his
                  enemies.

SLO-MO CU on albino ALISTAIR GREY

                                   GABE
                                  (v/o)
The pale horse represents death and decay
and will be followed by hell...

EXT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
LINDSEY, CHLOE, and LAZARUS start running for the church as the
motorcycles come roaring down the street.

                                   CHLOE
                   They’re catching up!

GARRETT flips his gun to cock it and fires. An echoing shot rips
through the night, ripping through LAZARUS’S leg. LAZARUS cries out in
pain as he crumbles to the ground behind them. LINDSEY and CHLOE fall
forward to the ground as LAZARUS howls in pain.

                                    LINDSEY
                   Lazarus!

                                    LAZARUS
                   Run!

INT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
GABE and DILLON both turn at the sound of the gunshot.

                                    DILLON
                   What was that?

EXT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
LAZARUS stumbles to his feet, pushing LINDSEY and CHLOE forward. HAWK
flings his tomahawk through the air, causing it to embed into LAZARUS’S
back shoulder. LINDSEY drags CHLOE away as LAZARUS falls to the ground
once again. CHLOE screams in terror as LINDSEY bangs on the iron gates
in front of them.

                                    LINDSEY
                   Father Murphy! Help us!

                                     CHLOE
                   Please!

GORDON POWERS reaches into a pouch on the side of his bike and removes
a Chinese throwing star. He tosses it forward, hitting LAZARUS in the
other shoulder. LAZARUS howls in pain once again.

The iron gates are thrown open, GABE and DILLON on the other side as
LINDSEY and CHLOE rush into the church’s courtyard and collpase onto
the ground. DILLON looks flustered.

                                  DILLON
What the hell is going on?!

                                  LINDSEY
Those formerly dead men are trying to
                   kill us!

GABE looks out into the street, seeing a frightened and very injured
LAZARUS keeping balance on one leg. GARRETT, HAWK, ALISTAIR, and
GORDON pass by and circle LAZARUS as he looks over at the church
pleadingly. DILLON runs through the gates, but GABE steps out and
grips DILLON by his arm, stopping him from interfering.
                                 DILLON
                  They’re going to kill him!

LINDSEY stands behind them, looking out as GARRETT, HAWK, and GORDON
stop circling and head towards the church. ALISTAIR reaches into a
really long sheath strapped to the side of his bike and removes a
scythe, smiling as he strokes the handle. LAZARUS struggles to stand
up as ALISTAIR raises the scythe high in the air. LAZARUS looks up
into the glowing red eyes of ALISTAIR as he swings the scythe down,
decapitating LAZARUS with swiftness. LAZARUS’S head comes off of his
body and bounces along the pavement. LINDSEY screams.

                                LINDSEY
                  No!

                                  GABE
                  Get inside!

GABE pushes LINDSEY back through the gates as DILLON follows. LINDSEY
and DILLON support CHLOE as GABE opens the door. LINDSEY, CHLOE, and
DILLON run through the front door.

                                  GABE
                  Hurry, before they...

GABE looks back, seeing that GARRETT, HAWK, GORDON, and ALISTAIR are
off of their bikes, but are looking down at the ground in front of
them. GARRETT looks angry as ALISTAIR’S face is filled with fear.
GABE frowns as DILLON comes back outside. GABE and DILLON look at the
foursome as they just stand at the edge of the property, pacing back
and forth while looking at them. DILLON frowns.

                                 DILLON
                  What are they doing?

                                  GABE
They can’t trespass onto holy ground.
They’re pure form abominations of evil.
                  Interesting.

                                 DILLON
Even more interesting would be calling
                  the police.

                                  GABE
They wouldn’t be able to stop them.
                  Nevertheless, we should get inside.
Nothing says he can’t fire that weapon at
us from off of the property. Come on.

GABE and DILLON enter the church and close the door, the last vision
they see of THE FOUR HORSEMEN watching them from the streets.

EXT. CHICAGO TRIBUNE
LONNIE and MARCUS emerge from MARCUS’S car as the scene is being
cleaned up by some FIREMEN nearby. Detective JOEY ARMANDO is seen
sifting through the rubble, shaking his head. LONNIE and MARCUS
immediately walk over to JOEY.

                                 LONNIE
Joey, what have you found so far?

                                  JOEY
Lots and lots of dead people, man. This
is the worst crime scene I’ve had in a
very long time. It’s a fucking massacre.

                                 LONNIE
Did you see Lindsey in there anywhere?

                                  JOEY
Your “not” girlfriend? No, I ain’t seen
her in any of the deceased.

                                 MARCUS
Did you see her name on the list of
                  bodies? Lindsey Wallace.

                                   MAX
                                  (o/s)
Wallace ran out the back door.

LONNIE, JOEY, and MARCUS look over to see MAX DENTON sitting on a
sretcher, his shoulder bandaged where he was shot as he looks cranky.

                                 LONNIE
                  You saw her escape?

                                   MAX
Her and that friend of hers. The blonde
girl. Chloe, I think it was...

                                 LONNIE
                  She was with Chloe?

                                   MAX
Yeah, and those fucking bastards seemed
to be after them. Followed them right
out the back door. I don’t know what
happened after that. I passed out.

                                 MARCUS
The four bikers? What did they look
                  like?

                                   MAX
One of them had long gray hair and did
most of the shooting. There was an
Indian, a big black muscle man, and a
fucking albino with jagged teeth dressed
like an undertaker or something. The
thing that got me was their eyes glowing
                  red.
                                  JOEY
Yeah, I think he’s in shock, guys. He’s
                  hallucinating.

                                    MAX
Fuck you! I know what I saw!

                                 LONNIE
You didn’t see where they went?

                                   MAX
                  I said I passed out, didn’t I? What do
you need? A drawing of me with my eyes
                  closed?!

                                  LONNIE
                  Thanks.

LONNIE turns and walks off as MARCUS follows him.

                                 MARCUS
An albino that sounds an awful lot like
                  Alistair Grey...who’s dead.

                                 LONNIE
What the hell is going on in this city?

Suddenly, as if on cue, hailstones start falling from the sky, smashing
against the vehicles, buildings, and people. LONNIE and MARCUS shield
themselves as they watch some stones break through some car windows.
LONNIE looks on in disbelief.

INT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
LINDSEY is bandaging CHLOE’S wound up as GABE studies FR. FRANCIS’S
book of studies. DILLON walks in from the other room, shaking his
head.

                                 DILLON
The ambulance should be on its way.

DILLON walks over and jars the door open, looking out to see GARRETT,
HAWK, GORDON, and ALISTAIR standing at the edge of the property,
watching the building unmoving as hailstones pound against them and the
church. DILLON closes the door.

                                 DILLON
They’re not going to let us out of here.
                  What do they want?

                                 LINDSEY
I couldn’t even begin to guess. All I
know is that we found some information
about something called the SHELL Project.
What connection that would have to these
                  lunatics, I have no idea.
                                  GABE
The four horsemen. They’re riding and
                  declaring war.

                                 DILLON
How are bikers supposed to be the four
                  horsemen?

                                  GABE
Back in biblical times, they didn’t have
                  motorcycles. They had horses for
                  transportation. You wouldn’t expect a
man in ancient times to understand the
idea of technology and its evolvement, so
horsemen was the only thing he could
                  identify as the warriors.

                                 LINDSEY
Technically, they have horsepower in the
                  engine.

                                  GABE
Right. Father Francis stated that a
death would open the gates to hell. I
don’t know what death he is referring,
but whatever it is has happened and the
                  next steps are in motion.

The sounds of hailstones smashing against the church is heard.

                                  GABE
The moon will turn to blood, stars will
fall from the sky, and the rivers will
flow red. It’s happening before our
                  eyes.

                                  CHLOE
What is all of this leading to?

                                  GABE
                  The arrival of the beast.

GABE turns and walks solemnly out of the room with FR. FRANCIS’S notes
as hailstones are heard pelting the church walls.

INT. JAMES LOCKE’S APARTMENT
Heavy female moaning is heard coming from the candlelit room as we scan
the apartment. SCANNING slowly, we come upon JAMES LOCKE and EMILY
HODGES completely undressed. LOCKE is behind her, his hands gripped on
her tanned sides. LOCKE is thrusting forward as EMILY’S back arches
downwards and she moans with each thrust, her eyes closed and mouth
open.

LOCKE speeds up, groaning with each motion as they both become louder
until they both climax. EMILY catches her breath and rolls over onto
her back as LOCKE cuddles up behind her, kissing her neck as he holds
her in his arms. They both look up to these the hailtones pounding
against the window.

                                 LOCKE
I must say, Detective Hodges, that you
will go very far in this line of work.

                                 EMILY
I have no plans for that, James. This is
just a stepping stone to finish law
                 school.

                                 LOCKE
If you keep...performing as you do, I
will be able to open doors you never
                 dreamed possible.

                                 EMILY
                          (looks distracted)
James, do you think Kate Austin really
                 killed her ex-husband?

                                 LOCKE
I don’t think she would have confessed if
                 she hadn’t.

                                 EMILY
                 It happens. I mean, I think it’s a
little weird that someone as dedicated to
her son as Kate is would be more
concerned about confessing to a crime
rather than finding her missing son.

                                 LOCKE
She’s trash. Her whole family is trash.
They care nothing about their children.
We’ll probably be arresting them one day,
too. And Lonnie Elamb? Don’t even get
                 me started on that loser.

                                 EMILY
                 I don’t think he’s a killer, James. I’ve
known him a long time. Not well, but
I’ve seen enough to give him the benefit
                 of the doubt.

                                 LOCKE
You’re a rookie, Emily. Listen to the
voice of experience. He’s covering up.

                                  EMILY
                 For what? She confessed.

                                 LOCKE
Trust me, Emily. She’s guilty. He’s
guilty. I’m gonna get them and the
                 little bastard son, too.
LOCKE kisses EMILY’S neck as she stares out the window at the
hailstones, deep in thought.

INT. LAKE MICHIGAN CABIN
TY AUSTIN is on the ground, low on bood and exhausted as JEREMIAH
LONGFELLOW turns and walks over to the open door, his solid white eyes
concentrated on the hailstones falling from the sky.

                                JEREMIAH
It has begun. It is underway. Chicago
falls first, followed by the world.
Zangrael is coming, Zangrael is coming.
                  We all fall down!

TY looks up and watches as JEREMIAH steps out into the hailstorm, his
gray hair blowing across his face as he outstretches his hands to the
sky. JEREMIAH laughs.

                                JEREMIAH
I serve you, master! I serve you well!

JEREMIAH laughs maniacally as TY turns and bolts for the back door. He
throws it open and bolts for the woods. JEREMIAH turns his head and
sees TY running. JEREMIAH’S eyes widen in worry.

                                 JEREMIAH
No! Get back here, you little bastard!

JEREMIAH runs over to a chopping log and removes the axe from it,
turning to see TY running quickly down the path.

                                JEREMIAH
                  Sacrifices must be made!

JEREMIAH takes off through the hailstones as TY disappears down a path.

INT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
CHLOE is now sleeping as LINDSEY and DILLON sit near the back of the
church silently watching CHLOE sleep. DILLON looks over at LINDSEY.

                                 DILLON
Gabe tells me you’re dating Roland Stark.

                                 LINDSEY
As a matter of fact...I am.

                                 DILLON
                  He’s not a good man, Lindsey. I don’t
                  think he’s good for you.

                                 LINDSEY
Well, I didn’t think your little waitress
friend back home was best for you,
either, but that didn’t stop you.

                                  DILLON
I didn’t mean to hurt you.

                                LINDSEY
You did...and I’m not ready to forget
about it yet. Roland’s been good to me
so far. I like him and he treats me with
respect. I’m sick of men not wanting
something until they can’t have it
                 anymore.

                                DILLON
                 I see...

DILLON shakes his head, stands, and exits the room. LINDSEY sits with
her arms crossed as she watches over the injured CHLOE.

INT. HALLWAY
GABE is walking down through the church, reading through the notes. He
stops and glances ahead, seeing MICHAEL THE ANGEL standing in his path
with a stern look.

                                MICHAEL
What you feel is happening, but it can be
stopped. You have to be willing to make
                 a sacrifice.

                                 GABE
                 What do you mean?

                                MICHAEL
It won’t be your choice. It will be her
                 decision and her decision alone.

                                 GABE
                 I don’t understand.

                                MICHAEL
                 You will...

                                DILLON
                                 (o/s)
                 Gabe, the Horsemen are leaving!

DILLON comes running into the room, causing GABE to turn around.
DILLON waves him towards him. GABE turns back to MICHAEL, only MICHAEL
is gone. GABE looks unsurprised, but turns and follows DILLON.

EXT. ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
The doors open as DILLON, GABE, and LINDSEY walk outside. GARRETT,
GORDON, HAWK, and ALISTAIR have returned onto their bikes and are
pulling away from the church. The sound of a siren can be heard coming
closer. An ambulance comes careening into the driveway and screeches
to a halt outside the church doors.

                                LINDSEY
Finally! Hurry! She’s hurt pretty bad!
She could die if she’s not treated!
The door to the ambulance opens and GARRYDEVIL steps out with a grin.

                               GARRYDEVIL
Well, now. I can’t have that on my
                  conscience, can I?

                                  GABE
                  Follow us, Garry.

GABE, DILLON, and LINDSEY go back into the church as GARRY smirks. His
eyes glow a brief yellow color.

EXT. CHICAGO TRIBUNE
LONNIE and MARCUS are still at the scene, awaiting word on LINDSEY as
the sun is setting over the landscape. ROLAND STARK, with GARTH
MITCHUM, steps out of the crowd, looking frantic as hailstones continue
to pelt the surroundings.

                                 ROLAND
Where’s Lindsey? Have they found her?

                                 MARCUS
                  Not yet.

                                 LONNIE
God, you two’ve been on a few dates and
already you’re acting like she’s your
                  soulmate.

                                 ROLAND
At least I care about her and don’t
always put her down every chance I get.

                                  LONNIE
You don’t know what you’re talking about,
Stark. I care about Lindsey more than
                  even she knows.

                                 ROLAND
I just want to find her. Any ideas?

                                 LONNIE
No. None. I’m still looking for a lead
on Ty, too, what with Kate in prison for
                  Lou’s murder.

                                 ROLAND
                  What?!

                                 LONNIE
Yeah, the world is falling into an abyss.
                  Everything’s going to hell.

                                 ROLAND
We have to find them both.
                                  LONNIE
We don’t have to do anything. I’ll take
                   care of it.

                                  ROLAND
When someone offers to help in a hard
sitauation, no matter who they are, you
                   might want to accept it.

                                  LONNIE
                   Unless I don’t trust them...

                                  MARCUS
Guys, we’ve got more important things to
                   worry about right now.

LONNIE and ROLAND both turn with frowns.

                                    LONNIE
                   Like what?

MARCUS points ahead as the hailstones continue to fall in front of
them. However, as the night sky sets in, emerging from dark corners
and alleys are several CREATURES. HELLHOUNDS. Drooling and growling.
The large number of HELLHOUNDS creep forward, staring down their prey.
A lot of them, all surrounding the area.

                                  LONNIE
                   We’re in deep shit.

“TO BE CONTINUED...” flashes onto the screen as we FADE TO BLACK. The
closing credits roll as the Alternative Halloween Theme begins to play.
