Sachin Karpe - A hardcore gamer shares his story:

‘There was a time when we could not even imagine buying a gaming console on our own. Earlier when I
was in 6th grade, my parents could not afford a play station, so my brother’s and I had to be satisfied
with the Cassette Video Game. Mario and Contra were the obvious favorites. I distinctly remember that
since we could not afford the Play Station, my parents used to rent it for a night or two from the gaming
stores and were charged 400 bucks for a night. That was too heavy a price to pay, as we could easily
have gotten a Cassette for the Old Box game that I had (The name escapes me) that too for a permanent
keep. But we were too fascinated by the feel, the graphics and the games to let go off the opportunity to
keep it, even if it’s for a day.

The Sad part is that it wasn’t affordable then and 14 years down the line it’s still not affordable. My
friend recently narrated an incident that reminded me of the obsession that we had and how we could
do anything for gaming an hour on Play station.

Sachin Karpe has taken the onus of promoting gaming industry in India and making the Video Games
and other gaming consoles affordable to the general public.

Another remarkable thing is that although Mr. Sachin Karpe had not logged in much time on Play station
during his childhood, he now owns A Play station 3, An Xbox 260 and an Alienware X51 PC. Sachin has
also converted a part of his bedroom into his gaming den, where entry is barred for outsiders.
