                                             Northern Cup
                                           18th / 19th March 2006

The tournament will take place at the following venues:

U13, at Bowdon Squash Club

U15 at Warrington Sports Club

U17 & U19 at New Brighton Rugby Club

All players must be under the specified age on 19th March. Managers should submit their team in rank order
before the start of the competition. The rank order may not be changed throughout the competition.

Each match will normally be the best of five games. However, the tournament organiser may find it
necessary to declare that matches be the best of three. In such an event the scoring will be adjusted:- 2 – 0
will be recorded as 3 – 0 and 2 – 1 will be recorded as 3 – 2.

The draw is made according to last season’s results, as far as possible:

Eg.

GpA GpB GpC

1 2 3

6 5 4

7 8 9

12 11 10

Scoring will follow the normal inter-county system, one point per game won and 5 points for winning the tie.

Matches will be played under England Squash rules and court clothing must comply with England Squash
requirements. Eye Protection must be worn.

In order to assist with the smooth running of the tournament, managers are asked to ensure that play is
continuous and that players are ready to go on court without delay. Where possible, each match should be
marked and refereed by one player from each team.

                        1’s mark 5’s

                        3’s mark 4’s

                        2’s mark 1’s

                        5’s mark 3’s

                        4’s mark 2’s

At the end of each match, the completed score sheet should be handed to the tournament organiser without
delay.
Managers should advise players as to their conduct on court and should instruct them not to argue with
markers’ decisions. They should remind them that they are guests in clubs where members of the public are
present and the highest standard of behaviour is expected.

As not every county will bring six players and court time is limited, only 5 players per team are scheduled.
Please arrange matches for no. 6 on an ad hoc basis if court time is available. Please confirm with
tournament organiser.

Presentations to teams in first and second place will take place at the venue where the competition is held.

Visiting spectators and players will be responsible for their own refreshments over the weekend.

The tournament Directors are :-

At New Brighton Gill Thomason

At Warrington TBC

At Bowdon Squash Club TBC

The schedules are a guide only and will be confirmed or may be changed by the tournament director.
Managers are not permitted to use the published times as a reason to delay the start of any match.

The tournament director’s decision will be final in all matters.

Following the tournament I will post the results on the Cheshire Web site: www.cheshiresquash.org.

I would like to thank you all for your quick response to my letters etc. and to all who have helped in
organising this year’s Northern Cup.

I’m sure it will be a successful tournament
