Introduction/Cfylwyniad:
Rob Didier, who trained under Raymond
Blanc, moved to Bwlchgwyn, near Wrexham,
in 2003 after his London restaurant was
compulsorily bought for a new railway line. He
bought Nant y Ffrith forest, a 250 acre mixed
woodland, and managed it with a herd of
Oxford sandy and black pigs…...Orchard Pigs
was born. Since then the pies have proved so
popular that the pigs have moved to a
neighbour’s farm only a few miles away.
Orchard Pigs produce fantastic handmade pies
and pastries - including their trademark
'Tractor wheel pie', using local free range
produce. A range of pork, mutton, beef and
game pies are sold at farmers markets and
shows across the country.

Introduction/Cfylwyniad:
Wrexham Tea is an ethically sourced blend of
tea. We approached several tea merchants to
create a blend that we could have as our
signature tea. We tested several blends over
several months on family and friends who are
fussy and loyal about their tea until we came
up with a blend that we thought was suitable
for Wrexham. It’s full of flavour, with a nice
golden liquer, it’s versatile, you can make a
mild or strong brew whatever suits your taste,
it’s an all day drinking tea suitable for any
occasion.
Wrexham Coffee is a blend of Fair Trade
Coffees. We approached several coffee
roasters and asked them to create a blend of
Fair Trade coffee that we could have as our
signature coffee. Again we tested several
blends from different roasters on family,
friends and their friends, serious coffee
drinkers who know their coffee.

In all of the tastings the blend that is now
known as Wrexham Coffee was
overwhelmingly chosen. It’s a medium
roasted full bodied smooth all day drinking
coffee, no acidity or bitter after taste, the
aroma equals the taste just what you’d
imagine a coffee to smell and taste like full of
flavour. Wrexham Coffee is versatile if you
like your coffee just a bit stronger then add
another scoop you won’t get that bitterness
that you sometimes get with other coffees.
Wrexham Coffee can be expressed, filtered
used in your cafetieres or bean to cup
machines.
We also sell fresh leaf tea and fresh coffee
beans from around the world. Coffee beans

Introduction/Cfylwyniad:
My Grandad Kenneth Wyn Platt first started
off the butchery business back in 1952 in the
Butchers Market, High Street, Wrexham, back
then he sold fresh meat, home cooked
beetroot, home made dripping and fresh
chrysanthemums which I helped him grow. In
time my Dad Derek Llewelyn Platt decided it
would be a good idea if he could rear sheep
for the shop which led him to buy a parcel of
land in Wern, Bersham near Wrexham on
which he produced a few sheep. My Grandad
would like nothing better than to bike up to
the farm to help Dad on his days off from the
shop. When I was growing up I would help
Dad on the farm, spending most days with
him. We became very close he was my friend
as well as my dad. Dad gradually managed to
extend the farm and went into beef cattle
which he also supplied to the shop. My Dad
would sometimes help in the shop taking me
with him which was my springboard into the
business which after my Grandad and Dad
passed away, I Robert Platt has since taken
over.

The business now comprises of me, my wife
and two employees. I still farm sheep and
cattle at Hillside Farm which with all of the
new rules and regulations becomes
increasingly difficult but we somehow manage
thanks to the help and devotion of my fellow
colleagues. We have entered several sausage
competitions both in Wrexham and Llandudno
and received Gold Awards in both for our
home made pork sausages and homemade
burgers. All of the sausage and burgers are
made in the shop as well as kebabs. All of the
produce is sourced locally if not off the farm.

Introduction/Cfylwyniad:
The brewery was first founded in October
1985 by the late Alan Beresford, of the once
famous Border Breweries Wrexham, with the
specific aim of producing fine traditional
country ales.
In the years since, many other brewing
experts have followed in the footsteps of Alan
Beresford into the Plassey Brewery, honing
and perfecting the real ales produced there.
Passing on and ever evolving brewery, now in
the capable hands of Ian Dale. Since joining
the Plassey Brewery in 1989 Ian Dale has
used his expertise as a brewer and a chemist
to produce an astonishing array of awards for
the brewery, from the brewing industry and
real ale connoisseurs.
In the late summer of 1996 Ian Dale and
Tony Brookshaw undertook the mammoth
task of commissioning the new Plassey
Brewery building with a modern 15 barrel
brew plant, complete with visitors viewing
gallery and brewery shop.

Wrexham Food Festival.
Introduction/Cfylwyniad (300 words max/dim
mwy na 300 o eiriau):
Our Cold pressed extra virgin rapeseed oil is
being launched at the Wrexham Food Festival.
This is a delicious Oil which is pressed from
seed sourced from “Farm Assured” Producers
mainly from the Dee Valley area.
Rapeseed Oil, is a diverse oil and is high
enough in quality to be used for dipping,
dressings and drizzling in the same way as
you would use a high quality Olive Oil, but
equally good when used to stir or shallow fry
where its high smoke point is beginning to
make it the Oil of choice for Chefs.
Rapeseed Oil contains half of the saturated fat
of Olive Oil and has a high Omega 3 Oil
content, but above all it is its delicious nutty
flavour which must be tasted.
Rapeseed Oil is rapidly becoming the UK’s
answer to Olive Oil.
Dee Valley Rapeseed Oil can be found locally
in specialist foods shops such as
Delicatessens and Farm Shops.
