On Saturday, November 24th we hosted our Generations Charity Golf Classic and Silent Auction. This event was created to honor
the memory of those members who have passed away since The Reserve Club opened. This year’s tournament honorees were Carl Adkins,
Doug Frandsen, Werner Goth, Martin Hendrick and Sue Van Camp.
We are so pleased to announce that we raised $8,600 for the Savannah River Cancer Foundation in this year’s event. We want to
thank all of those who supported the event through their sponsorships, contributions and participation. Seventy six players competed in the
four person scramble golf tournament, with the team of Jim Harris, Charlene Harris, Ron Jones, and Sandee Jones taking home first place
honors.
We would like to give a special thank you to Bruce Schwartz, Carole Pincavage, Don Cronin, Karen Vijuk, Geoff Magrath, &
Gene Laska for their dedication and hard work in obtaining sponsorships and donations for the auction. Together, they were able to sell
fifty sponsorships for the tournament and get over fifty items donated for the silent auction.
Listed below is the list of event sponsors and the list of companies/people who donated items to the silent auction. If given the
opportunity we ask that our members patronize as many of these businesses as possible. It will be our goal to raise at least $10,000 next
year and will need many of the businesses support again.

Hello Members,
Fall is nearly over and the winter chill is almost here. Soon all the leaves will be down and the frosty mornings
will get longer. This time of year is usually a slow down from the hustle and bustle of summer. However, we still
have an abundance of work to do to keep up the excellent playing conditions of both golf courses. One maintenance
practice that is different this year is the over-seeding of the fairways, which we have not done in the past. The
fairways will require just as much attention as they do in the summer with watering, fertilizing, and mowing. The
fall and winter months in the golf course industry means “project time”. Some of the projects we will address this
season include drainage issues, under-brushing, fall pruning, rebuilding bunkers, and irrigation restoration/
maintenance.
I would also like to take this time to introduce myself to those of you I have not met. My name is Ryan Rigsby
(Second Assistant Superintendent) and I will soon be with the Reserve Club family for one year in mid-December.
In March of 2006, I graduated from Augusta Technical College. I am originally from Macon, Georgia. Throughout
high school I worked part-time at a nearby golf course, mainly so I could play golf for free. However, I developed a
deep appreciation for the aesthetics of the golf course. Before I came to the Reserve Club, I worked with the Mount
Vintage Plantation grounds staff for three years. I am excited to be here at the Reserve Club and look forward to
meeting and getting to know all of you.
There a few concerns and tips I would like to address in preparation for the coming months. First, some of you
may notice that we do not have any rye seed in our fairway divot mix. This is because we are trying to keep the
rough as free of rye grass as possible to maintain its look from not over-seeding. To solve this issue, we will
periodically seed areas that have heavy amounts of divots to keep our fairways in perfect playing condition. Second,
I would like to answer some questions we have received about fall pruning. Mid-to-late fall is a good time to prune.
You can do all of your corrective pruning on trees to get branches away from your house and other branches. Also,
prune all dead and broken branches or diseased branches. It is a perfect time to cut back some of those overgrown
shrubs that seem to get out of hand in the summer. Last, we are going to start having cooler nights and this means
ice is going to be a concern in the mornings for all of you and for us, as well. Driving conditions can become
dangerous with ice on the roads and cart paths. A couple ways we can avoid these dangerous conditions are to set
our irrigation run times earlier in the evening or later in the morning to avoid any ice development. Also, this time
of year many types of turf do not need as much water as in the summer months. It will take some research to find
out what your specific turf needs are and our local extension office can be a great help. I would like to thank all of
you for the many compliments. We all take pride in our job and appreciate hearing that the members are enjoying
the results of our hard work.
Happy Holidays,
Ryan Rigsby
2nd Assistant Superintendent
