					Shane studied at The Royal Dental Hospital, of London University, qualifying with BDS in 1979,
then gaining LDSRCS(Eng) in 1980. He worked in Croydon, in general practice up to 1990. Looking
to further horizons he moved into private practice in Germany in 1991, since when he has
been a member of the University of Dusseldorf Work-Study Groups in Implantology and
Prosthodontics. In 2001 he returned to England, since when he has gained by examination the
MFGDP, RCS(Eng) in 2003; he has been a Case Presenter for the regional MFGDP Study Group. In
2005 he completed a Master of Science Degree in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology at King's
College, London, – his Research Paper being entitled ‘Selection criteria for imaging
prospective implant sites – a critical review’. In July 2010 he concluded his studies at the
University of Sheffield for a second Masters Degree – MMedSci in Dental Implantology,
the Research Dissertation being “Outcome analysis of immediately loaded dental
implants – A Systematic Review of the Literature.”


2006 Winner of the British Society of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology Bursary for the
presentation of that same research Paper at the 10th. European Congress for Dental and
Maxillofacial Radiology, Leuven, Belgium.


2006, April. The first of three Papers published on the website of the British Society of
Periodontology – ‘The Subepithelial Connective Tissue Graft with the Lateral Pedicle
Flap.’


2007, June. The preliminary findings of two current research papers were accepted for
presentation at the World Congress for Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology, Beijing, China.


2008, February. The second of three Papers on micro-mucogingival surgery was published
 on the website of the British Society of Periodontology – ‘The surgical procedure of
 anterior crown lengthening, respecting the Biologic Width.’


2008, July. The third of his three Papers on micro-mucogingival surgery was published on
 the website of the British Society of Periodontology – ‘Multiple Gingival Recession Sites
 and their surgical correction.


2008, June. The Final Results of two Research Papers were presented at the 11th. European
Congress for Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology, Budapest, Hungary:


    • An Unusual Case of Adjacent Dentigerous Cysts; and the use of the Xenograft Bio-Oss
       for Cystic cavity closure.


    • The Regeneration and Maintenance of Crestal Bone Height in periodontally
       compromised patients suffering vertical bone loss.

mandibular third molar and supernumerary (third) molar: A rare occurrence." was
published in the Journal of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology,
and Endodontology, in June 2009; 107:6, pp e15 – e20.

2010, March. His Case Report: “Micro-surgical repair of labial gingival tissues following
excision of an epulis: A case report with 18-month follow-up.” Published in The Journal of

2010, March. His Case Report: “A comparison of natural bone regeneration with that
produced by the xenograft Bio-oss in the management of an unusual case of adjacent
