The mild winter has everyone hoping for a good start to the season and our Assistants
and Apprentices open their tournament season with the opening Business Meeting and Assistants Tour event at Brae Burn on
April 9th. The Assistants will start the meeting at 9:30, preceded by an Orientation session for all new apprentices as well as any
assistants who are new to the Met Section. That program will begin at 8:30 am. Head professionals are asked to make you’re
their assistants are aware of the orientation. Golf is oversubscribed right now but a waiting list is being maintained in the event
of withdrawals.

                                           Lincoln Pro-Ams – Important to Met PGA and Important to Lincoln
                                         North Hills is Season Opener on Thursday, April 12th and Tam O’Shanter
                                                              Added to Schedule on April 26th

Our relationship with Lincoln has been significant in both the amount of their support and their long-time loyalty. We are urging
our Met PGA professionals to show their appreciation by supporting our 2012 schedule. Every event is important and this is just
one way that Lincoln measures the value of their sponsorship. Sign up today for North Hills (April 12th) or Tam O’Shanter (a re-
cent addition to the schedule on April 26th). Our Pro-Ams are also presented by Mohegan Sun and the winning team of the com-
bined gross and net competition will be invited to our Mohegan Sun Tournament of Champions in October. We will also be
encouraging (and providing gifts) for our players to test drive the Lincoln products at their nearest dealer or even at some of our

                                         Met PGA Pro-Assistants at Nissequogue and Knollwood

The biggest day of golf for the Met PGA is our annual Pro-Assistants. Long Island will be at Nissequogue on Monday, April 16th
while that same day Westchester, CT and Upstate teams will converge on Knollwood CC. Both events are double shotguns and
the choice of shotgun times are on a first-come, first served basis. Our thanks as always to our annual sponsor, TaylorMade and
adidas Golf and we also welcome presenting support from our Partner, ShipSticks.

                                                 MasterCard Match Play Championships

                    Our Championship season and Player of the Year race gets under way on April 23rd as professionals will
                    compete at Willow Creek Golf Club on Long Island in the MasterCard LIPGA and at Whippoorwill CC for
our Westchester, CT and Upstate professionals in the MasterCard Westchester PGA. In an effort to expand the number of play-
ers in both fields, we will exempt up to 32 players from the 2011 point list from the qualifying and still qualify a minimum of
32 additional PGA Members into both fields. The match play events will begin with the first round on Monday, April 30th fol-
lowed by 2 rounds of matches conducted on May 1st - 2nd and the finals will be May 3rd. The April 23rd qualifying rounds will
also be used for our MasterCard Met PGA Senior Match Play Championship at Cold Spring CC on May 8-10th.

                                                   Town Hall Golf 2.0 Meetings Scheduled

                       A new addition to our schedule will be a series of Town Hall Meetings that will be open to all PGA
                       Members as well as staff and apprentices to discuss and promote a variety of Golf 2.0 initiatives. The
meetings will allow for our Officers and staff and PGA Regional Player development Manager Jonathan Gold to share best prac-
tices and to encourage your understanding and participation in the effort. Our first date will be May 3rd at Westchester Country
Club from 4 to 6 pm. Additional dates and sites will be announced in our E Updates and upcoming Newsletters.

                             2012 Directories at Upcoming Meetings and Programs
                            Met PGA Magazine and 2011 Year in Review Goes Digital

The Met PGA staff worked hard to get our 2012 Directories and Magazine ready for our upcoming meetings. Directories fea-
ture ads for our 2012 Partners and Sponsors while the Magazine helps celebrate the 2011 season and previews what is ahead
for 2012. Copies of the Directory will be available on a limited basis at Wykagyl and then additional copies will be at Brae
Burn as well as at the Educational Forum. Our Magazine will be posted on the web site and will be in a digital format for

                            Play Golf America & Get Golf Ready Program at Eisenhower Park on April 28th

                         We have created a new partnership for 2012 with the United Athletes Foundation and will be offering
                         both a Get Golf Ready Day as well as a Play Golf America experience for those who attend on Satur-
                         day, April 28th. Demo equipment and free lessons as part of our Play Golf America Day will be at the
                 public end of the Eisenhower Park Range from 10 am to 2 pm. Then UAF will host a free Get Golf Ready
                 Clinic for those who preregister at the First Tee end of the range (opposite from the public end) from 3 to 6
                 pm. We are seeking volunteers and will again reach out to our Life Members to assist for either program.

                            Save the Dates for Pro-President at Fairview and Glen Oaks

It’s not too early to be thinking about our Lincoln/Club Car Met PGA Pro-President at Fairview on May 24th. We suggest that
our professionals reach out to their club President now and set that date aside to be able to enjoy our Pro-President. The day
will include lunch, an afternoon shotgun and our normal gala awards party following play. The Long Island event will be June
21st at Glen Oaks Club.

Our 2012 Lenox Advisors NY State Open Championship will be July 17th-19th at Bethpage Black. We anticipate that entry

                               Metropolitan Golf Writers Association National Awards Dinner

           The Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook will host the 61st Annual National Awards Dinner on Tuesday, June 15th with
           another talent laden dais. This year’s Golf Tee Award recipient will be hall of Famer Tony Jacklin, who will be
recognized for his outstanding leadership and achievements. Other honorees include Lorena Ochoa, The Woodmere Club

                                            Met Section Staff Attains Rules Rankings
We are proud of the participation of two of our staff at the recent USGA/PGA Rules Workshop. Jeff Voorheis and Bart Rickard both at-
tended, along with Metropolis’ Craig Thomas and Rob Gable, and on a very difficult exam, both of our staff achieved outstanding results.

         Congratulations to Old Westbury assistant Matt Guyton and his wife Deniz on the birth of their son, Skyy on Feb. 12th in Sakar-
         ya, Turkey at 6.17 pounds……. On March 1st, Sunningdale’s Michael and Kerri Breed welcomed their first child, William Alan
         Breed at 7 pounds 13 ounces into the world. Everyone is doing great in both the Guyton and Breed homes and we wish them

                Congratulations to Birchwood’s Kammy Maxfeldt and to Westchester Country Club’s Bob Magli for their recent election

                                          Met Section Welcomes Five Newest PGA Members
           Congratulations to five professionals recently elected to PGA Membership. The group includes three A-8 assistants - Stephen
           Crawford, assistant to Steve Scott at Paramount Country Club; Joe Latino, assistant to Michael Crawford at Woodway and Alan
Nelson, assistant to David Young at Sleepy Hollow. Also elected were two A-6 teaching professionals – Mark Braziller, teaching profes-
sional at Drive 495 and a new assistant at Rockaway Hunting Club for Ryan George and Richard Tiberi, Jr. a teaching professional at Tur-
tle Cove Golf Center in the Bronx. We welcome all five to the PGA and congratulate them on their accomplishment and wish them the

Congratulations to John Klug on his recent appointment as the Connecticut Section PGA’s new Director of Tournament Opera-
tions. John will certainly bring great expertise to that position. Our congratulations and best wishes also to Caleb Blodgett, assis-
tant for Michael Crawford at Woodway who just recently accepted the head professional position at Wampanoag in West Hart-
ford, CT. The Connecticut Section will be getting two outstanding Met Section professionals. Michael Hunt will be leaving the
