The first ever BIG PURPLE Ball for Breakthrough Breast Cancer is being hosted by Cotswold Breakthrough this year, at The Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester on Saturday 9th December. The group hopes to raise £10,000 for the leading charity committed to breast cancer research and education. Lots of fun and excitement is promised, with a wealth of the Cotswold’s finest entertainment provided by two local bands. ‘The Listening Device’ is headed by Harry ‘Bunter’ Worcester (the next Duke of Beaufort), Janet Thompson and Phillip Legende - they recently played alongside Eric Clapton and Bryan Ferry. Jools Holland recently complimented the band as sounding like a mixture between Ray Charles and Nick Cave, others have said maybe The Listening Device are what would happen if Tom Waits became the lead singer of Coldplay. The second band is ‘Hot Rox’ a 70’s glam tribute band guaranteed to make the ‘Ballroom Blitz’. Celebrity comedian Nick Page will brighten up the dark with one of his titillating stand-up sessions and leading jazz saxophonist Frankie Abrams will set the schmooze, there will also be a troupe of talented belly dancers from Winchcombe, ‘Cleo’s Sisters’, all doing their bit for this worthy cause. Biagio Vitale of Havana Leisure Ltd has very kindly supplied the DJ for the end of the evening. …/2.. continued …2/… The ‘BIG PURPLE’ Ball is Coming…. “Local businesses have been very supportive.
