Midas Touch: Gold Boosts Fuel-Cell Catalyst by ProQuest

The researchers made ironplatinum-gold (Fe-Pt-Au) and iron-platinum (Fe-Pt) nanoparticles via co-reduction of metal precursors. The nanoparticles were then annealed at 4000C and at 6000C, and X-ray diffraction was used to monitor the transition of thence structure to fct. At 4000C, the Fe-Pt-Au nanoparticles remain in the fee structure, but when annealed at 6000C for 1 h, the nanoparticles are converted to a partially ordered fct pattern.
