									Dear Cadets,

Welcome to the Delaware Academy of Public Safety and Security.

Please take a moment to pause and think about the name of your school: the Academy of Public Safety
and Security. Here, at this new school, you will have the unique opportunity to learn about careers in
first responders’ fields -- careers that inherently come with enormous responsibility. The responsibility is
not only to the public, it is to the people who work beside you.

Here at the Academy, we take that sense of responsibility to heart. Our core values are Fidelity to
others, Diligence to succeed and Scholarship in the classroom. We expect our cadets to embrace and
reflect these values. While each cadet is accountable for individual behavior, consideration for others is
also imperative. We want to create an environment that fosters tolerance: after all, it is our differences
that make us stronger and better able to serve the needs of our diverse community.

Each of you has the very distinct honor to be a Cadet in the Academy’s first class. You are the foundation
of this school’s history. You will set the example for future classes. We have no doubt that you will rise
to the occasion, and we are so excited to start this adventure together.

                                               Cadet Creed
I will always conduct myself to bring credit to my family, country, school and fellow cadets.

I am loyal and patriotic. I am the future of the United States of America.

I do not lie, cheat, or steal and will always be accountable for my actions and deeds.

I will always practice good citizenship and patriotism.

I will work hard to improve my mind and strengthen my body.

I will seek the mantle of leadership and stand prepared to improve my community.

Remember, you are the strength of our Academy!

Sincerely,

Charles Hughes

Head of School
