Navigation Ribbon The Navigation Ribbon has an assortment of icons that will help you to easily maneuver around in Everest GIS. To get to this ribbon, click on the Navigation Tab at the top of the screen in Everest. Looking at the picture above you can see all the buttons that the Navigation Ribbon encompasses. There are two groups within the Navigation Ribbon. The Navigation Group includes buttons to navigate around in Everest. First is the Zoom Previous Button. This button will take you to your previous map view. The Zoom Next Button becomes active after you have used the Zoom Previous Button. Using Zoom Next will take you back to you map view before Using the Zoom Previous Button. The next button is the Zoom In Button. Clicking this button will zoom you in to the center of the screen, a certain percentage. The Zoom Out Button will zoom you out a certain percentage each time pressed. The next area of the Navigation Ribbon consist of two buttons, the zoom layer drop down, and the zoom layer go button. You can use the zoom layer drop down to choose which layer you would like to zoom to. Just click on the down arrow and in here it will list all layer on your map. Once you select a layer from this list you must click on the zoom layer go button to be instantly zoom to the layer that was specified. The Go to Coordinates button lets you type in a specific X,Y and you will be zoom to that X,Y. Clicking on this button will bring up this wizard. On this page you can choose to enter in the x,y and click ok and you will be zoomed to that x,y. Also a call out annotation will appear like the one pictured below. If you un-check the check box Decimal Degrees then the Go To Coordinates window will look like this. If you click on the Coordinates tab you can change the coordinates system for that x,y call. The Zoom All Button will zoom you to all your layers. The last icon in the Navigation Group is the Zoom Selected Button. Clicking on this button will zoom you to whatever features you have selected. Next there is the Navigation Tools Group. Next is the Zoom In Tool. Using the zoom in tool to quickly zoom in to any area on your map is a speedy way of getting around in Everest. To use this tool, first click on the icon. You might notice that the mouse cursor turns into a magnifying glass with a plus sign in it. Left click and drag over the area you would like to zoom into. The smaller the box you create when left click and dragging the more zoomed in you will be. The larger the box you create when left click and dragging the less you will be zoomed in. The smaller the box you create when left click and drag the more zoomed out you will be. The larger the box you create when left click and drag the less you will be zoomed out. The last button on in the Navigation Ribbon is the Pan Tool. Clicking on this button will cause your mouse to turn into a hand. To use the Pan Tool, left click on the map and drag to where you would like to be. The icons on the Navigation Ribbons will help you when maneuvering around the map. From using the zoom to layer to zoom to specific layer, to using the go to coordinate to zoom to a specific x,y coordinate, this Ribbon will help you.
