The Commissioner presented the annual political strategy of the Commission for
2008 in the areas lying within his competence and replied to Members' answers and
remarks.

Preliminary ruling from the Unabhängiger Verwaltungssenat im Land
Niederösterreich (Austria), case C-345/06, Heinrich

Ortega, Eva Lichetenberger, Francesco Enrico Speroni, Mogens N.J. Camre, Klaus-
Heiner Lehne, Cristian Dumitrescu.
Decision: the Committee unanimously decided to ask President Pöttering to submit
observations before the Court of Justice in pending case C-345/06.
24. Verification of credentials
The following spoke: the Chairman (standing Rapporteur), Klaus-Heiner Lehne.
Decision: the Committee confirmed the validity of the mandates of Mr Göran FÄRM
(to replace Ewa HEDKVIST PETERSEN) and of Mr Titus CORLĂŢEAN
(following the accession of Rumania as a new member State) as Members of the
European Parliament, with effect, respectively, from 1 February 2007 and1 January
2007.
The Committee also verified that Mr Titus CORLĂŢEAN 's resignation from his
mandate as a Member of the European Parliament, with effect from 9 March 2007,
was in accordance with the Act of 20 September 1976.
At the same time, pursuant to Rule 4, paragraphs 4 e 5, of the Rules of Procedure, the
Committee unanimously decided that the appointment of Mr Jan Zahradil as personal
representative of the Czech Prime Minister in the consultations relating to the Berlin
Declaration and the re-launched European constitutional process is compatible with
the letter and the spirit of the Act of 20 September 1976.
