Whilst at University I took the opportunity to work on a consultancy project with Endeavour Rail,
two entrepreneurs had bought two trains, were looking at running them from Middlesbrough to
Whitby. I had to look at ways to increase their revenue when the business was launched.
My dissertation area involved research to do with Total Quality Management at Carrier Transicold
a subsidiary of the United Technologies Group, this involved working with both transport
refrigeration units both mechanical and electrical. I worked closely with design engineers at the
body builders were the refrigeration units were installed. I also worked closely with refrigeration
engineers during the installation of the refrigeration units and liased with both design team and
engineers. By liasing with design teams and engineers I assisted with the successful reduction in
man-hours due to the re-direction of pipe work during installation phase.
