When you set out to lose weight, most people will tell you to eat right and exercise. But what else can you
do lose weight? Here are some unusual and fun ways to start dropping that excess weight.

1. Cut your stress. Many people don't realize how much stress can affect their weight. Chronic stress releases
higher levels of cortisol into your body, making you more hungry. If you're stressed, you're more likely going
to search for something to relieve that stress, including comfort food that isn't good for you. If you
cut your stress levels, you will be more likely to eat well.

2. Throw away "fat clothes." If you want a drastic way to tell yourself that you mean business, go through
your closets and take out all the clothes you hope to never wear again. Keep a few essentials so you have
something to wear as you are losing weight, but take all of your "fat clothes" and remove them from your
environment. If you don't have the heart to throw away the clothes, let a friend store them or give them away
to charity.




3. Journal about your weight loss journey. This can be a great way for you to track your progress and get into
the reasons you are overweight in the first place, as well as the reasons you want to get thinner. Make sure
to keep it positive overall; don't let yourself whine and complain every day about
it.



4. Eat facing a mirror and ask yourself this important question: are you eating too quickly? A lot of people
who are watching their weight don't realize that they are eating too fast. When you eat, make sure to chew
your food about 20 times before swallowing. By allowing yourself to taste and savor your food instead of
wolfing it down, you will start to feel fuller more quickly and find that you don't need as much food as
you
thought you did.




5. Make sure you eat breakfast that is high in fiber and drink lots of water. Breakfast sets the tone for
the
entire day. To start off, have a great deal of fiber in your breakfast. Fiber helps you stay fuller
for a period of time, so you can avoid random junk food snacking. Fiber can cause stools to be bulky,
longer
however; make sure you drink adequate amounts of water to "keep things moving." Water can also make you feel
fuller, so it helps you in more than one way.




7. Use smaller plates. It's really easy to pile a lot of food onto a big plate. When there isn't so
much you have to make serious choices about what stays and what just won't fit. Smaller plates ensure that
space,
there just isn't enough for junk, and you will have smaller portions that are better for your weight
loss
plans.




7. Find three physical activities you enjoy, and do them. It is well known that exercise is a vital part
of
losing weight, but for many people, going out to the gym every day isn't a fun idea. However, exercise
encompasses many more activities than just running or lifting weight. If you like to dance, do that. If
you skating, do that. Experiment and find things that work for you.
