Steps Groupings Details
STEP1 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_a] This is a spreadsheet for a record shop called Vintage
Vinyl. It contains some contact details for record dealers.

STEP2 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_b] We want to add a logo to the top of the document, and
we’ve just created one in Paint Shop Pro.
Animation: Click Paint Shop Pro taskbar button. Vintage Vinyl logo.psp is
open. Layers Palette open (sized fairly big). See screengrab:
                                      KS3Y9_M1_2_7_vinyl logo

STEP3 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_c] To get this logo into the Excel document we’re going to use
                                      copy-and-paste.

STEP4 Hilite layers
[KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_d] Notice that there are several layers in this image. Before
we copy the image we’re going to merge all the layers.

STEP5 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_e] If we didn’t do this, then we would end up only copying the
                                      contents of the selected layer.
Animation: Right click text layer > Click Merge > Click Merge all > Layers all
Merge to one layer called Background

STEP6 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_f] You can copy part of an image by selecting a section with
                                      the Select tool.
Animation: Click Selection tool > Select centre of record

STEP7 Show Ctrl and A keys in Textbox
[KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_g] But we want to copy the whole image, so the easiest way
to do this is to use the Ctrl + A keyboard shortcut.

STEP8 INTERACTION1 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_h] Please use your keyboard to select the whole image.

Correct response Press Ctrl + A
Result Marching ants appear around whole image
                                      Incorrect 1 General wrong keypress

You should have used the Ctrl + A keyboard
                                                                shortcut.
                                                                Please do this now.
Incorrect 2 Click anywhere on screen

                                      shortcut.
Animation: Audio click > Click Excel taskbar button >

STEP10 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-1_l] First we’ll select where we want to paste the logo.
                                      Animation: Click cell D1

You should have used the Ctrl + V keyboard
                                                                     shortcut.

STEP1 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-2_b] Here’s a business card for the Vintage Vinyl record shop.
All we need to do is add the logo from the logo image that we also have open.
Animation: Click Logo > becomes active and to the front a little

STEP2 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-2_c] We’re going to copy the logo and paste it as a layer so that
we can easily move it around.

STEP3 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-2_d] First, we’ll select the whole image by using the Ctrl + A
                                           (say Control A)keyboard shortcut.
Animation: Show Ctrl + A keys on stage > Audio key press > Marching ants
                                           appear around image
STEP4 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-2_e] Now we’ll copy the image, (Pause for animation)
Animation: Show Ctrl + C keys on stage > Audio key press > Whole image is
                                           selected
and select the image that we want to paste to.
Animation: Click the Title bar of business card. Background layer is selected.

STEP5 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-2_f] There’s a keyboard shortcut for the Paste As Layer
command that’s easy to remember because it uses the letter L.
STEP6 INTERACTION1 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-2_g] See if you can figure it out.
Please use the keyboard shortcut that you think will paste the logo as a new
                                           layer.

Correct response Presses Ctrl + L keys.
Result Logo appears & new layer is created & move tool is
                                                                     selected
                                           Incorrect 1 General wrong keypress

You should have used the Ctrl + L keyboard
                                                                     shortcut.
                                                                     Please do this now.
Incorrect 2 Click anywhere on screen

Please use your keyboard to carry out this task.

STEP7 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-2_j] Notice that the Mover tool has automatically been selected,
so we can move the logo to wherever we want now.
Animation: move logo to centre left.
STEP8 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-2_k] As the text is on a separate layer, we could use this image
over and over to create business cards for other people.

STEP1 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-4_a] We want to copy and paste this star until we have twelve
stars in the shape of a circle.

STEP2 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-4_b] We don’t want to create another eleven layers though; we
want to paste the star on to the same layer every time.

STEP3 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-4_c] We can do this by pasting the star as a selection. First we

[KS3Y9 M1 2-7-4_e] As we need to paste the star a few times, it would be
easier to use the Ctrl + E (say Control E)keyboard shortcut, rather than going
through the Edit menu every time.
Animation: Click away from menu to close it.

Animation: Audio click > hilite new floating layer.

STEP9 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-4_k] Notice that a new temporary layer appears while the star is
still selected. This lets you move the star around as much as you want until you
                                      deselect it.

STEP10 INTERACTION2 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-4_l] To get rid of this temporary layer you just click away from

bits in this image would be set to transparent because the current background
                                     colour is black.
STEP4 [KS3Y9 M1 2-7-5_d] Let’s have a bit of fun with these two pictures by putting
the dog’s head on the doctor’s body.
