Ink-Consumption Comparison Charts
The following ink-consumption comparison chart shows the amount of ink
waste that occurs when most printers run out of a single color of ink. The
data was compiled by printing the same “Marketing Area” document
(Figure A) using a Canon S450, HP DJ 930C and an Epson SC 760 printer. It
illustrates that with Canon’s built-in individual ink-cartridge system, it is not
necessary to throw away the entire ink cartridge when a color runs out.
The HP and Epson printers, compared below, use a single ink cartridge, so
the entire cartridge must be replaced when a single color runs out. Each
chart indicates the number of pages per color you can print of the
“Marketing Area” document from each printer. On the Hp and Epson
printer chart, you will notice that after the Cyan color runs out, there are
still many pages of ink remaining in each cartridge that get wasted when
the cartridge is replaced.
