					                     INFORMATION SHEET – CHILDREN’S SAFETY

The following arrangements are in place for both safety of children and for the overall convenience of parents.

MORNING DROP-OFF AND AFTERNOON PICK-UP
 All children must be dropped off in the carpark either by stopping along any of the pick-up bays or by an adult
accompanying them across the carpark to the pathway at the back of the school buildings (front path and main corridor
during construction period). No child is to be dropped off anywhere along the school ring road.
 Children going to morning BASCA arrive at school before 8.30am. Parents taking children to BASCA may park out the front
of school for the short time needed to accompany their child to or from BASCA.
 After leaving classrooms, and unless being collected from the classroom, all children being picked-up by car are required to
walk along the back pathway (main corridor and front path during construction period) to the designated pick-up bays.
 So that the hall foyer remains relatively clear for uniform shop, band, etc only children accompanied by an adult (or going to
band or sports practice) can walk through this area.
 In the afternoon all children who are going home by car are to be collected from the designated pick-up bays (A-I, J-R, S-Z)
in the carpark. No child is permitted to walk unaccompanied by an adult to a car parked in the general parking area.
 No cars are to stop in the pick-up bays waiting for a child to arrive. Parents will need to continue on and either park in a
parking bay or return on a round trip.
 When entering Casey Crescent from the school ring road there is room for cars to turn both left and right.

SPEED AND PARKING AT SCHOOL
 Within the school ring road and carpark the speed limit is strictly 10km/h. Absolute care must always be taken by drivers
        and pedestrians.
 Safety in the carpark is always paramount. Children are never to enter the carpark unaccompanied by an adult.
 Car space lines and arrows are marked in the main carpark. Please follow directions and park in designated spaces. Cars are
not to park at any time in the drop-off or pick-up areas.
 The disabled car spaces are located in front of the school hall and are clearly marked for disabled parking only. Note that
these spaces are in daily use. Should any parent need to use a disabled space please contact the school office so that we have
car details. These two spaces are only available for disabled use.
 One carpark located next to the Sacred Heart Church is for staff parking only.

MORNING SUPERVISION AND ASSEMBLY
 Morning supervision commences at 8:30am. On those occasions where a child arrives before this time he or she is required
to remain seated in the designated cover area until the teacher arrives for supervision duty. For the safety of all, any child
who does not remain seated will not be permitted to enter the school grounds until 8:30am. (Parents will be informed in
advance should this measure be necessary.)
 It is expected that all children arrive at school in time for the 8:55am first bell. (It is unsettling for the child and class when a
child arrives late to line or late to class. Obviously, there are circumstances, such as car breakdown, which may result in a
        late arrival.)
 Morning announcements inform children and teachers about what’s happening in the day ahead. Parents are warmly
welcomed and encouraged to join us at the morning line-up; however, it is asked that conversations not take place during
        prayer or general announcements.

WET WEATHER ARRANGEMENTS
 The morning drop-off point is within the carpark drive from where the children walk along the path behind the school
buildings (front path during construction period) and make their way to the school hall. Children must not be dropped off
anywhere along the ring road nor walk along the front footpath to classrooms, as is the case in both wet and dry weather.
 In the case of rain a “Wet Weather” sign will be placed near the crossing (across the road from the office entrance).
 On wet mornings children will assemble in the hall. From 8.45am teachers will collect their students and accompany them
        to their classroom.
 On wet afternoons children are collected from their classroom. Older children may wait in their youngest sibling’s classroom
to be collected by parents. From 3:20pm on children not collected from classrooms go to the office.
