    Burlington Lodge #916 had the opportunity and privilege of assisting the Vermont Special Olympics in arranging food and serving
meals for their 39th Annual Summer Games at the University of Vermont on May 30, May 31 and June 1. 540 athletes from every county
in Vermont competed in the summer games.

        I would like to personally thank the following members, spouses and families for their willingness to show how much “Elks Care-
Elks Share” - Dave Ploesser, Marie Ploesser, Steve Ploesser, Gail Lavallee, Pat Desilets, Sally Vachereau, Maurie Eustace, Oliver How-
ard, Marion Howard, Carol Miranowicz, Walter Miranowicz, Bob Hollinger, Dan Venditti, Sandra Venditti, Liz Scheidegger, Bethane

                                                                        • Bar manager Kevin Carney has undergone another back surgery
                                                                          (keep golfing Kev ). Word is it went okay, but his recovery was
                                                                          a bit more slowly than last time. Thanks to Lauren, Sue and
                                                                          Kerry for filling in during his absence.

  FALLEN HERO’S DONATION
   The Burlington Elks Lodge #916 held a charity Bingo on May
26th,2008 to benefit the Vermont Fallen Hero's Memorial Fund.
Through the generosity of the community we were able to raise
$2600.00.

    On Monday June 16th during the halftime break at the normal
Monday Night Bingo at the Lodge, a ceremony was held where
they presented a check for $2600.00 to Rick Brehm, Chief MSGT
(ret.) representing the the VT National Guard Charitable Founda-
tion.
This donation will be used by the Guard to help fund the VT
Fallen Hero's Memorial at Camp Johnson in Essex Junction VT, a
memorial to all VT National Guard soldiers who have given the
ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

                                                                     that it brings. Please keep in mind suggestions for this years fall
                                                                     fundraising along with ideas for more Club day trips.
                                                                          We will be holding our annual Holiday Bazaar again in Novem-
                                                                     ber and presently are waiting a confirmation of the date. Jewelry
                                                                     donations are already starting to roll in. Anyone wishing to donate
                                                                     jewelry along with any other craft items please bring it to the club to
                                                                     my attention or contact any Eldoe. Arrangements can be made for
                                                                     pickup for the donor convenience. This is one of our biggest fund-
                                                                     raisers and jewelry, handmade crafts, and baked goods are a very
                                                                     integral part of our bazaar.
                                                                         Once again our 2007-2008 fundraising efforts allowed us to assist
                                                                     the Elks Lodge with a decorative cover in the main room over the
                                                                     bingo board. Nine Chittenden County non-profit organizations re-
                                                                     ceived approximately $6000 from us to assist them with their charita-
                                                                     ble works. We are very proud of what we are able to do and hope-
                                                                     fully will continue to do so in the future. Great job Eldoes!!!!

                                                                         The Eldoes are having a day trip to the Holiday Inn Lake George
                                                                     Dinner Theatre on July 23. We will be leaving from the Elks Lodge
                                                                     at 8:30 a.m., returning approximately 5:30 p.m. There are a few seats
                                                                     remaining. Anyone wishing to join us or for more information,
                                                                     please contact me at 238-7565 or 862-8878.
                                                                         In closing, please consider introducing a friend to the Eldoes. Our
                                                                     membership continues to grow and our efforts are never ending.
