Secretary Report: Minutes approved.

 We expect to change the Area meeting place in January to a location between Ann Arbor and
Ypsilanti more centrally located. Please continue to add to the suggestions already given: 4859
Ellsworth Road in Ann Arbor, just west of Golfside, at His House Christian Fellowship or Packard and
Eisenhower, or Bryant Community Center off of Ellsworth. A summary of the locations will be available
at Decembers Area for input showing: location, cost, time options available to meet, parking,
         accessibility etc.
 Voting for subcommittee co-chairs at area level will happen in December. Please bring
nominations and be present to be voted in as a subcommittee co-chair. The Guidelines for the
co-chair is the same as for the chair position: All Sub-Committee Chairpersons and any
members handling N.A. funds must have at least 1 year of continuous abstinence
 2 signature Bank Account needs investigating whether we should get one or not. A bank the co
treasurer looked into costs $110 to set up this service and will look further into costs.
 Ways to encourage Area participation by all GSRs and other members for education and
future service at area could be: GSRs in attendance to spread accurate portrayals of area and
announce area and invite others, make flyers, service IPs and communicate with the missing
GSRs meetings. Accepting Flyer samples for discussion and distribution in January.

RCM Report: The next Regional meeting will take place December 4th in Kalamazoo.
 Frank reported that our area members needs to Call 1-866-717-7785 and let him
(duffgoblue@hotmail.com) know what you like, don’t like and any other comments about your
     experience when using it.
 Registration for MRCNA is by Mail-in forms for Shanty Creek MRCNA this year, don’t miss out,
     mail in your forms!
 CAR workshop is an every 2 year discussion from World level about issues effecting Groups.
The issues that need discussing are released the end of November and our area needs to turn
our votes into Region in April. We request Activities committee find a place to have a 4hr
workshop at the end of February to discuss and vote on the issues.

Activities: Next meeting is 6pm Thursday Dec. 15th 1800 Packard, Ypsilanti Free Methodist
Halloween Party was fairly well attended by Washtenaw area and many of those who were there
pitched in and helped with service. Not yet sure how much the event brought in (still waiting to hear
final info. from Western-Wayne’s treasurer). Their intention is to mail us a check for whatever profit
we’re due. Much thanks to everyone who supported the event by showing up and doing service.
No donations this month from subcommittee meeting. We owe $5.00 rent for November.
We’d like to begin meeting on the Thursday following area, starting in December. This seems like it
will make it easier for us to receive timely feedback from groups and work better for planning
 Thanksgiving Day Marathon Meeting:
Location will be Peace Neighborhood Center. Doors will open at 11am. Meeting will end at 7:00
when regular meeting begins (Clean-n-Serene). Unfortunately, Activities Subcommittee has
received no feedback from groups yet regarding sign-up sheets; we’re anticipating at least receiving
this information on 11/13 at Area and will work on scheduling coverage for the Thanksgiving
meeting during the week of 11/14. PLEASE continue to ask for people to do service by taking a
shift; at this time we have no idea whether or not we’re close to having coverage for the full day.
Anyone who hasn’t signed up yet and is willing to should contact Heather. It’s important that we
have someone there the entire time and help is greatly needed in order to accomplish this. We
were able to secure the location for $70 (we put $100 in the budget).
Holiday Party, with dinner/potluck, workshop, speaker, game night:
Will be held Saturday, 12/10, 3:30-9 pm, at Ekklesia Fellowship Ministries, 123 N. Adams St.,
Ypsilanti. This is the location where Straight and Forward meets Friday nights. From 3:30-5:15,
there will be a workshop called “Our Vision, Our Freedom,” dinner will be served at 5:30 and be
followed with open talk by Freddy at 6:30. For the remainder of the time, we’ll have games. We’re
also working on a plan for something for kids to do while the workshop is going on. Dinner will be
potluck, with main course provided. We were able to secure the location for $60 (had $100 in the
 Christmas Day Marathon Meeting:
Location will be the recovery house where Hope in the Willow meets on Sundays at 5. Meeting
begins at 11 am and ends at 5 pm when regular meeting begins. Please put sign-up sheets out right
away and bring that feedback to December Area so we can continue planning in time for Christmas.
We were able to secure the location for $60 (had $100 in the budget).
Activities is really in need of help with these events. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make
announcements letting people know. We need people to do service at the marathon meetings (just
by committing to a time and showing up), and also could use help with the holiday party. We have
very few people on our committee, and can’t do it all. Remember to announce activities
subcommittee meets the Thursday following area beginning in December, rather than the Thursday
before. Next meeting will be Thurs., 12/15, at 6pm. Same location (Ypsi Free Methodist on
Please keep in touch with Heather- anyone willing to do service please call (734) 883-2206 or email:

for Christmas marathon meeting to secure location $60. (If possible, please give these funds to
Brittany G. for our subcommittee, or Heather will collect money from Area treasurer this week).
We’d also like to request a contact list for GSRs (phone numbers, emails).

An addict at the business meeting asked why we had stopped reading the Basic text at the meeting
and it was explained that the meeting has always had a consensus of reading the Just for Today
reading. When the meeting broke up into tables, some tables read out of the basic text as part of
their table but as far as the meeting went Just for Today was our only reading and due to the fact
that the meeting has been moved into a smaller room we don’t read from the basic text at the
meeting so that all in attendance have a chance to share.
