HEALTH OF THE CLUB by President Bob Steele:
Many thanks to everyone for making the effort to come to our Gyro
Luncheons. We had 42 present on Wednesday, Jan. 24th.
I spoke to Roy Brookes, and he is having good days and not so good ones.
Scot Duguid is still recovering from his operation. Bob Walker has a
new knee, and is healing very well. We missed Doug Colton on Wednesday.
Doug is being careful with icy walking conditions. It was good to have
Ethan Compton, Gordon Coates, Nick Kenney, Doug Church and Andy Chunta
out to our lunch. We know each of these gentlemen are in various stages
of recovery and getting better.
A revised Gyro Club of Calgary Constitution and Bylaws (REV. 2007) will be forwarded to all club
members for your review and comments. A new Policy document has been approved and will come to
you in an attachment with this bulletin.
DID YOU HEAR……
A very successful lawyer parked his brand new Porsche Carrera GT in front of the office, ready to show it
off to his colleagues. As he got out, a truck came along too close to the curb and completely tore off the
Fortunately, a policeman in a police car was close enough to see the accident and pulled up behind the
Porsche, his lights flashing. But, before the policeman has a chance to ask any questions, the lawyer
started screaming hysterically about how his Porsche, which he had just picked up the day before, was
now completely ruined and would never be the same, no matter how hard the body shop tries to make it
After the lawyer finally wound down from his rant, the policeman shook his head in disgust and disbelief.
“ I can’t believe how materialistic you lawyers are,” he said. “You are so focused on your possessions that
you neglect the most important things in life.”
“How can you say such a thing?” asked the lawyer.
The policeman replied, “Don’t you even realize that your left arm is missing? It got ripped off when the
truck hit you.”
“OH NO!” screamed the lawyer.
One day I was walking down the beach with some friends when someone shouted. “Look at that dead
bird!” Someone looked up at the sky and said. “Where?”
My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car that is designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped. She
keeps it in the trunk…
