Nature of the Tour:
Our tour is a camping tour, showing you the highlights of the Western
Cape on the back of your motorbike. Our route include some of the best
bike-riding roads in South Africa. The tour is joined by a support vehicle
and a trailer, which is carrying your luggage and all the camping
equipment.
The group will consist of a maximum of 10 bikers plus a professional guide
on a motorbike, a driver for the back-up vehicle and an additional
support person. One of our couriers will drive the back-up vehicle and will
meet up with you on the campsites in the evening.
The driver must be minimum 25 years old.

Gear
We advise to bring along your own protective clothing and crash helmet.



Highlights
Wine-tasting in Franschoek, Route 62, Cango Caves and ostrich racing in
Oudtshoorn, Wilderness, De Hoop Nature Reserve and Chapman’s Peak.

Itinerary

DAY 1: Cape Town to Bainskloof Pass                                   D
A morning departure takes you from the bustling CBD of Cape Town to
the French-inspired town of Franschoek, where we visit a wine farm to
taste and savour the local beverage. We continue through the winelands
over the winding pass through Bainskloof to the mountainside campsite at
Tweede Tol. Enjoy dinner under the canopy of pine and oak.

Bainskloof pass was opened on the 13/14 September 1853 and this year
will be a 150 years old. It was built by Andrew Geddes Bain after whom it
was named.
The first kilometre or two run through pine forests Once you have past the
forest you reach the fynbos on the higher slopes.
From the top you can enjoy spectacular views to Wellington. Bainskloof
Pass is a natural monument along it’s full length.

DAY 2: Bainskloof Pass to Barrydale                                   BD
We start the day early heading towards the Overberg area via the scenic
town of Swellendam. Take in the past with beautiful gables, homesteads
and out-of-town hospitality. We continue along the N2 and then off the
main highways heading towards Barrydale. We camp the night at

Warmwaterberg, a spa resort that is pure simplicity with two open pools
set against the stark backdrop of the Little Karoo.

DAY 3: Barrydale to Oudtshoorn                                        BD
After breakfast we head out towards Oudtshoorn with its balmy climate,
festive locals and everything you can imagine about ostriches. More than
that, this is your chance to explore the expansive and breath-taking cave
system of the world-famous Cango Caves. If you’re feeling especially
brave, visit an ostrich farm and ride on one of these giant birds.

DAY 4: Oudtshoorn to Wilderness                                       BD
Descending the N2, we head for the coast of Wilderness, a town with
spectacular ocean, forests and mountain views. We venture out for a hike
to Rus en Vrede Waterfall and enjoy the luxury of tranquility in this
peaceful setting. Return to set up camp alongside the river in Wilderness
National Park, and spend a peaceful night under the African sky.

DAY 5: Wilderness to Bredasdorp                                       BD
We start circling back towards Cape Town as we head west out of
Wilderness and towards the superb conservation area of De Hoop Nature
Reserve, the pearl of the Overberg. We spend the day exploring the
wetlands, fynbos lowland and the myriad mammal, plant and bird
species.

Day 6: Cape Town                                                      B
We continue along the rocky coastline towards the Mother City. Fortune
favours the brave when we head along the sinewy Chapman’s Peak to

Departure:
The Jenman Safaris Motorbike the Western Cape departs from Cape Town
Lady Hamilton Hotel. Please be punctual! 09h00 departure.
The pre-departure meeting will be the evening before our tour starts at
18h00 at the Lady Hamilton Hotel.

Transport:
Jenman Safaris uses fully equipped Toyota Hi-Aces or Minibuses or
appropriate vehicles to transport your luggage and all the camping and
cooking equipment. The bikes used are BMW on and off-road bikes.

Accommodation:
Accommodation on our camping safaris is 2 guests per 3-person dome
tents, fitted with mosquito nets. Jenman African Safaris supplies 5cm thick
foam mattresses. Sleeping bags can be rented for US$ 30 / Euro 25 for the
whole trip.

Spending money:
Clients are advised to bring enough money to cover the purchase of
curious and personal items. The currency in South Africa is South African
Rand.

Meals:
All meals are organized by the guide and are prepared by him/her with
the help of the group (This is on semi - participation safaris). Meals are
nutritious and filling, drawing on fresh local produce where possible. We
buy groceries along the way, so our clients have a say in what type of
meals are eaten. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements
befire the tour.

First Aid:
Our guides are trained in basic first aid and the vehicle is equipped with a
comprehensive medical aid kit. Preventative Malaria medication should
be taken before the trip and throughout its duration, although it is
advisable to consult a doctor prior to departure.

Luggage:
Maximum baggage allowance: 12 kg. Jenman Safaris stipulates this
luggage allowance, as an overloaded vehicle is a danger to both the
clients and the guide. This does not include photographic equipment and
a small daypack. Please bring a backpack or soft barrel bag, not a
suitcase. Please adhere to the allowance specified as space for luggage
is limited.

Insurance:
EXCESS REDUCTION OPTIONS

We offer 3 very competitive excess reduction options for peace of mind
during your holiday.


Standard Cover

Standard Cover is available at R90 per day. In the event of any damage
to either the motorcycle or third party vehicle / property, the hirer will be
liable for the first R30 000. The excess can be paid by cash, traveller’s
cheques or credit card (a manual imprint of the credit card will be taken
and the amount will have to be authorised by the bank). This is fully
refundable on return of the motorcycle to the agreed location, on the
agreed date, with no damage incurred to the motorcycle or third party
vehicle / property. Hirer is also responsible for all tyre damage. Further
details can be found on the Welcome Letter.


Super Cover

Super Cover at R130 per day will reduce this excess for any damage to
either the motorcycle or third party vehicle / property to R15 000. Further
details can be found on the Welcome Letter.

Note: hirer is responsible for all tyre damage

Exclusive Cover

Exclusive Cover at R220 per day will reduce the excess for any damage to
either the motorcycle or third party vehicle / property to Zero. The option
of Exclusive Cover will cover all tyre damages. Further details can be
found on the Welcome Letter.


EXCLUSIONS

The hirer will be fully liable for any damage to the motorcycle or third
party vehicle / property if:

   The terms of the rental contract are breached.

   Damage to the motorcycle is caused by careless, wilful or reckless
    driving.  also see Welcome Letter
   Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
   Driving on restricted roads / areas
   Water submersion or salt-water damage is caused.

In case of any damage to the motorcycle or third party vehicle / property
a second excess will be collected to cover the excess for any subsequent
damage.


ACCIDENTS

 If the rental motorcycle is involved in an accident and is not driveable,
  a replacement motorcycle, if available, may be collected from the
  closest branch.
 If the hirer requires a replacement motorcycle to be delivered, then
  these charges will be for the hirer’s account. None of the excess
  reduction options cover this eventuality.
 The hirer is responsible for the recovery of the damaged motorcycle to
  the original rental depot.
 Should there be no replacement motorcycle available; no refund for
  lost rental days will be considered.
 If the hirer is unable or unwilling to take a replacement motorcycle, no
  refunds for early termination of the contract will apply.
 No refund of rental days lost will be considered during the period in
  which a replacement motorcycle is being organised.
 Should the hirer continue with a replacement motorcycle then a new
  rental contract and insurance conditions will apply.
  We reserve the right to apply the above conditions as they deem fit.



INFRINGEMENTS

We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines,
associated administration costs and / or accidents including third party
vehicle / property damage not reported on the return of the motorcycle.

Sleeping bags:
Jenman African Safaris can provide sleeping bags. A fee of Euro 20 will be
charged for the whole tour.

Visas:
The onus is on the client to organize all visas required to visit South Africa
