Sincerely, Todd Moody Band Director, Scott High School SCOTT BAND Newsletter July 2009 Booster President's Message Dear Band Students & Parents, We are looking forward to a great year! As the new Booster President, I am especially excited about getting to work more closely with all of our Boosters! (All parents are automatically “Boosters”!) The Booster’s role in band is to support the efforts of Mr. Moody and his staff. We do a variety of activities, from providing refreshments after concerts, coordinating our Spring Trip and Band Banquet to making Chili and delivering 5,000+ bags of mulch! The Scott Band fees ($175) are low when compared to high school bands in our area and throughout the state, which range from $450 to as high as $1,100! Our students’ fee of $175 is matched by the Boosters’ fundraising proceeds, which allows more students to participate. There are a variety of fundraisers and ways to help as a Booster – opportunities are throughout this newsletter! Please feel free to contact me or any of the Booster Board members listed below, if you have any questions or would like more information. Hope to see you at the next Booster Meeting! Sincerely, Carolyn Bachmann Scott Band Booster President Scott Band Car Wash - Saturday, July 25, Noon-4pm @ Taylor Mill Elementary! Looking for students to wash cars, parents to help supervise, soap and lots of towels to dry. Please contact Booster Vice President, Joann Stryker at email@example.com or 859-866-6266 for more info or to volunteer. 2010 Scott Band Spring Trip The Spring Trip is not mandatory but strongly encouraged. The purpose of the trip is to expose students to a variety of musical opportunities through meaningful performances and reputable venues. Students unable to participate in the Spring Trip should inform Mr. Moody as soon as possible. Details of the trip will be released after School Board Approval during the Fall Semester. In an effort to reduce the financial strain on families, the spring trip costs may be paid according to the schedule listed below. Any student wishing to participate but who cannot pay trip fees should discuss with Mr. Moody. $175 – First Spring Trip Installment Due at the end of the First Trimester in November 2009 $175 – Second Spring Trip Installment Due at the end of the Second Trimester – February 2010 Band on the Run - Mark your Calendars!
