sources. Collaborated with Milwaukee Public Schools as a Community Learning Center.
Negotiated funding and purchase of Center’s building. Navigated period of financial instability
by handling media relations and negotiating with creditors. Recruited Executive Director
Ramon Candelaria. Left organization financially strong with an annual budget of over $1
million.

Native American Tribes to lobby against state and local English-Only legislation. Lobbied
elected officials on federal immigration legislation. Successfully expanded membership base.
Co-authored bilingual information pamphlet on immigration law that received a State Bar of
Wisconsin Award of Outstanding Achievement in 2003.

      Participated in overseeing the operation of the social service arm of the Archdiocese,
with an annual budget in excess of $7 million. Served as Board liaison to Immigration
Counseling project.

               Instrumental in creation and oversight of Catholic Charities
               project to establish a new legal services provider focused on
               providing immigration assistance to the poor. This project
               received the Wisconsin State Bar’s Legal Services Provider Pro
               Bono Award in 2003.

free and low cost legal services in areas of family law, landlord tenant, criminal law and
administrative law. Instituted Board governance policies and procedures. Worked closely with
Executive Director on budgeting and personnel issues. Successfully obtained WisTAF funding.
