Lego for Me Page 1 Table of Contents Table of Contents Introduction Stegosaraus Bibliography Illustrations Page 1 Page 2 Pages 3-4 Page 5 Pages 6-7 Page 2 Introduction Lego’s have been apart of children’s lives since the 1930’s and still continues to be the world’s largest manufactured construction toy in the world. They can be purchased for your use at your local toy store, drug store, and right off the internet. These miniature plastic block pieces, which were once crafted out of wood, seem to take a toll on children’s imagination and creativity level. There are endless possibilities to what one can create using these interlocking pieces that come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. The blocks come in a variety of shapes so that anyone can build almost anything and everything if they put their mind to it. However, Lego’s are not just for kids; anyone who wants to be creative and just build something that they feel is art are more than welcome to jump on the bandwagon, but don’t let these plastic blocks fool you because they are an addiction that is hard to kick. Page 3 Stegosaurus Now, I will explain how to make a stegosaurus out of Lego’s using 8 four studded blocks, 6 six studded blocks, 2 four-teen studded blocks, 2 flat 6 studded blocks, 5 pegs, and an elongated 2 studded block for the face. First take the 2 four-teen studded blocks and align them in a straight line and then underneath them you will take one of the six studded blocks and center it between the other two and connect them together in the same direction as the other two. Now, on top of the them you will take another one of the six studded blocks and overlap the four-teen studded block by two studs in the center in the same direction and then you will connect another six studded block right next to it in the same direction as well. On this row there should be six studs to the left with nothing on them and ten studs on the right. Now on top of the 2 six studded blocks you will take another six studded block a center it on top of them. You know completed the body, but a stegosaurus is not complete without it’s spikes on it’s back so you must take the five pegs that you have and put two on the top of the last six studded block you snapped on and then on the next row there are only two openings, one on each side of the block. Place a peg on each side and then on the last row, which will be on top of the four-teen studded block on the right hand side you will place the peg in the second opening. Your next step is to make the face so you will first make the mouth and you will take one of the six studded blocks and connect it to the left side of the body on top of the four-teen studded block and only connect half of the block to it at the edge of the larger piece. Then you will take a flat six studded piece and attach four studs underneath the last six studded piece you just placed. Then you will take the elongated two studded piece and Page 4 attach it on top of the six studded piece that has the flat six studded piece underneath. Now, on the right hand side of the body you will take the last flat six studded piece and attach it underneath the four-teen studded block, but only connecting two studs to it in the same direction and now you have your tail. Finally, underneath the body you placed a six studded block in the beginning, so now you take your last 2 six studded blocks and align them perpendicular next to the six studded block that is centered. Now, with the 8 four studded blocks make four groups of twos and each group you will just stack the two blocks on top of each other. Once you have done that you will connect each group to the ends of the 2 six studded blocks that are perpendicular to the body. So each perpendicular block should have two groups of twos, of the four studded blocks, on each end leaving two studs expose. Finally, your stegosaurus is complete.
