Creating a Mail-In Database in Lotus Notes
Introduction Lotus Notes is an e-mail client with many additional options which go hidden amongst the common user, especially the Mail-In database. A Mail-In database is essentially a mailbox but more for a group of people. Instead of having an e-mail for strictly yourself, it is sometimes required for many people to access a mailbox and share an e-mail. Rather than grant people access to view your e-mail you would set up a Mail-In Database for everyone to access and give that email address out. Each mailbox is created specifically for a topic. For example, I could create a Mail-In database for ENG352, assign it the e-mail ENG352@njit.edu and grant everyone in ENG352 access. This would be a repository for any information pertaining to ENG352. This is especially useful in the business world and a great addition to Lotus Notes.
This process includes: Choosing Location and Filename of Database Creating the Mail-In Database Setting up the Access Control for the Mail-In Database Testing the Mailbox
NOTE: Server names will differ for each user.
