Dear Parents,

Thank you, for your interest in our Montessori toddler home care.

We believe that the philosophy of Maria Montessori as developed for young children is a great stepping stone
to the future.

Toddlers and parents of “Little Hands” Montessori, a Toddler Home will experience the security of a home
setting and the wonderful beginning learning that a Montessori environment affords. We call ourselves “Little
Hands” because in these formative years children’s hands are their teacher. They must manipulate their
environment themselves to learn.

We work closely with MCDC next door preparing children to move on to the next level there.

Our Mission is to foster security and confidence in young children. At the same time we commit to parents to
assist their toddler in self care, early learning, as well as potty training, at the appropriate developmental time.

You are invited to come and see our home.

Sincerely,

Lewis Board & Marijane Schafer, husband and wife
team

WE NURTURE EARLY LEARNING

Maria Montessori, the founder of the educational method that bears her name,
observed that young children possess "absorbent minds". They are capable of learning
all manner of things – enriched vocabulary, eye hand control, listening skills self-care
and social graces, athletic and artistic activities – with relative ease.

The key to the child's success during the early learning years is having access to an
educational program that responds to their insatiable curiosity and desire to explore the
world. The hands-on nature of Montessori learning affords the toddler an opportunity to
absorb the knowledge and skills that build self-esteem, self-discipline, socialization, and
creativity.

Each child at LHM is treated as an individual, endowed with personal abilities that
yearn for discovery, development, and constructive expression. Our respect for the
child leads students at our school to respect the needs, rights, and feeling of others
within the toddler community. Children here feel safe, secure, and honored for who
they are.

Working together WITH PARENTS

We work together with parents as a team. Keeping in close contact with you is imperative so
that we are maintaining the same goals for your child’s development and learning.

We expect parents to follow through on skills that are being taught in our program, such as:
manners, language enrichment, potty training and self-care.

Our Montessori trained Toddler teacher, Nuccia Gardner, is always available to help.
A Commitment to the Well Being of Every Child

The adults who care for your toddlers at Little Hands Montessori are uncompromising when it
comes to the well-being of your child. Sound character, experience with children and
demonstrated understanding of child development is required for any and all adults in our home,
but above all, a commitment to children and Montessori philosophy – these are the criteria by
which we abide as loving caregivers and teachers. You can be assured that children are
constantly supervised and nurtured while in our care. There are one or more adults for every six
children.

Schedule

At the toddler age children need to be in a stimulating environment for a shorter amount of
time than older children therefore we do not provide after care.

Hours

Half day – 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon

(All children will have lunch with us)

Full day – 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. . We have contracted with MCDC to have children who stay full day nap and
dismiss from there . Full day children must be two years old.

We will provide our program for 9½ months of care and nurturing for your child. If we feel that
he or she is ready to move on to the preschool level we will recommend that you join the
Summer Camp at MCDC at that time or take the summer off and begin preschool in the fall.

Ages

We will be accepting children between 18 and 36 months. (18-24 months half day only).

Fees for Sept. ’10 to June ’11
