ESAP Parent Conference Checklist
Prior to Conference:
____________ School Attendance Letter #1: Mailed to parents by teachers, informing them of school’s
____________ School Attendance Letter #2: concern about student’s irregular school attendance.
____________ Request for Assistance (RFA): Sent to SSC notifying them of student’s continued
date irregular school attendance – 11th day unexcused or
16 total absences
____________ Parent Conference Notification: School to contact parents by phone and/or letter to
date schedule a parent-school conference with school team.
Why Regular School Attendance is important for children and families:
• Compulsory school attendance (it’s the law)
• Preparing for a positive “work ethic” in future career choices
• Developing positive and consistent habits at an early age
• Avoids “gaps” in student learning
Parents are informed of the details of the ESAP program.
From this conference date forward, a doctor’s excuse will be requested for all future school absences.
Upon the next unexcused absence, parents will be recommended to attend 3 Parent Support Sessions.
Parent Support Sessions begin promptly at the designated time for a 2-hour session, on a
scheduled day for three consecutive weeks. Doors will close at the start of class. Tardy or absent
parents will automatically move to the next level – HPD Saturday Class.
Alert, inform, and warn parents regarding the time and location of Parent Support Sessions, parents will
have to make necessary arrangements for their:
work schedules (sessions are held during the daytime hours);
childcare (children are not allowed to attend the parenting sessions); and
transportation (taking into consideration the location of the sessions).
If parents do not attend any of the three Parent Support sessions, they will be recommended to
attend the HPD Saturday Class.
HPD Saturday Class – Parents are to report promptly. Doors will close at the start of class.
Family Court Session – Parents that do not report to any one of the Parent Support Sessions and/or
HPD Saturday Class may be recommended to report to the Family Court Session.
Family Court Petition – If parents do not attend the Family Court Session, a Family Court Petition on
Educational Neglect will be processed by the school.
