The DIRECTV group is a leading provider of
direct broadcast satellite television service,
providing hundreds of digital video and audio
channels to more than 17 million monthly
subscribers in the US and a selection of local and
international programming to 5.5 million
subscribers in Latin America. DTV distributes its
services mainly through direct sales, retail
channels, and co-branding partnerships.
DIRECTV employs 12,300 people and has 77,900
AT&T and DIRECTV agreed in September 2008 to offer DTV
services to AT&T customers in its digital bundle package. DTV
replaces Dish Network in this agreement.
DIRECTV is the exclusive provider of NFL and MLB “season”
packages (NFL Sunday Ticket and MLB Extra Innings).
DTV is the largest provider of satellite service and the second
largest cable broadcast behind Comcast.
Offers the most HD channels and has the most advanced DVR
capability with investments to advance the DVR options.
