For more than four years now, I have been faithfully using CCleaner as my trustworthy and reliable
PC cleaner. Though I am not sure how I came across CCleaner but one thing I am certain of is that I
am glad I did and have never looked back ever since. I have tried out other cleaners before but they
were never as good and one barely or never saw any performance changes what so ever. With
Piriform CCleaner it is the opposite you get to see results after it has finished cleaning up all the
hidden junk on your PC.
I remember the first time I used it I checked all the advanced options and let it clean away. The
entire cleaning process took if I remember correctly some 30 minutes or so, a reasonable amount of
time for me but maybe it might take longer on other systems. After it finished cleaning I remember
getting about 20GB of hard drive space and my PCs speed did improve i.e. opening of windows, file
transfer and surfing the internet. Therefore, after that first clean I knew already that this is the
cleaner I have been looking for all this time.
CCleaner also comes with other features, which include:
Cleaner for windows where you have Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, System and
Applications with these options available Firefox/Mozilla, Applications, Internet and
A tools section with uninstall, start-up, system restore and drive wipe options
Lastly, the options section where you get to configure how you want CCleaner to work
With my installation of CCleaner, I set it to receive all updates for the software directly from Piriform
of which it informs you of any and you go to the site, download, and install it. The update process
takes just a couple of minutes and you are back to doing what ever you where doing. I also use the
tools section to disable some start-up programs under windows, internet explorer and scheduled
tasks. Under tools, you can also use the drive wipe cleaning option, which takes several minutes to
complete because it wipes all the hidden junk files on your drive/s with the option of completely
wiping all files on any drive.
Now I remember introducing this software cleaner to a friend after they had slow performance
issues with their PC. I just installed this and clicked on all options under windows and this includes
the advanced section as well. After some 20-30 minutes the cleaner had completed its cleaning task
and immediately the hard drive had just like me the first time some 20GB plus of space now
available. The software’s cleaning ability left me with a question whether any recovery tools out
there can recover anything if one cleans up their drive with CCleaner, I wonder!
In conclusion, CCleaner simply does what it’s supposed to do and did I mention that you have the
option of getting the freeware version with no trial nonsense or you can just buy the payware
version. I am still using the freeware version of the software and soon I will definitely switch to the
payware, which comes with more options.
