Ernesto J. Poza is an internationally recognized, top-rated speaker and consultant to family-owned businesses. He is Professor of Global Family Enterprise at Thunderbird’s Garvin School of International Management, and author of Family Business 2e, 2006. His work has been featured by CNN, NBC, NPR, The New York Times, Business Week, Family Business Magazine, Inc., Industry Week, Nation’s Business, and Family Business Review. In recognition of his contribution to the field of family business, the Family Firm Institute awarded him the coveted Richard Beckhard Practice Award in 1996. He is a founding member and Fellow of the Family Firm Institute. He serves on the boards of several family-controlled corporations and is on the editorial board of the Family Business Review and Family Business Magazine. Dr. Joseph Astrachan is an internationally recognized educator, speaker and consultant on family business topics. Dr. Astrachan currently serves as the Distinguished Research Chair at the Loyola University Family Business Center and Wachovia Chair in Family Business at Kennesaw State University. He is also editor of the Family Business Review and received the Dick Beckhard Practice Award from the Family Firm Institute.

Using video taped interviews with 4th, 5th and 6th generation CEO’s, Presidents and Chairs of Centennial companies, we will explore a resource-based perspective on family firms that recognizes that families in business often enjoy strong cultures which, when aligned with the strategy of the firm, produces competitive advantages. Centennial companies that are a part of the program include: Smucker’s, American Greetings, Osborne Wines, and The Timken Company.
