Help A Heart
THE JOHN “ TONY” RIEGER BENEFIT
Come join the family and friends of John “Tony” Rieger as we
gather to support Tony through this difficult time.
In 2004, Tony was diagnosed with Hypertrophic
Cardiomyopathy, or HCM which is a disease of the myocardium
(the muscle of the heart) in which a portion of the myocardium is
thickened without any obvious cause. HCM is most famous as
the leading cause of sudden cardiac death. In August of 2004,
Tony received a pacemaker, which is a small device placed under
the skin to help control abnormal heart rhythms.
In April of this year the muscle in Tony’s heart continued to
thicken making it very difficult for his heart to pump blood.
Tony’s heart function weakened to 53% and Doctors added Tony
to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN).
The OPTN maintains the national patient heart waiting list. Tony
is now waiting for his heart, a life-saving measure.
We are seeking your help in any way to help Tony with his
medical related expenses. Tony has been out of work for over a
year. It is unknown at this time if Tony will be able to go back to
