Business Dinner: Green Paper for Post-school Education and Training: Implications for business and future
workforce

The National Business Initiative (NBI) in partnership with the Sisonke Partnership (UK) Ltd is convening a series of interactive
discussion forums on improving the quality of provision in the Further Education and Training (FET) college sector. The first of
these events provides an opportunity for employers to respond to the Green Paper for Post-school Education and Training.

The Minister of Higher Education and Training, the Honourable Dr Blade Nzimande released the Green Paper in January 2012
for public comment. ‘The Green Paper provides a vision for a single, coherent, differentiated and highly articulated post-school
education and training system” which seeks “... to contribute more effectively to the goal of an inclusive economic growth and
development...”.

Whilst the Green Paper recognises the role of public FET colleges in expanding the numbers of skilled and qualified people
entering the workforce, it also acknowledges that FET college graduates are currently falling short of employers' expectation s.
The Green Paper also stresses the importance of building strong relationships between colleges and employers in both the
public and private sectors.

It is in light of this, that the NBI’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms Joanne Yawitch invites you to a business dinner to share your
knowledge and experience on the role that business could play in realising a vision for the post-school education and training
sector. Your insights will inform a submission on the Green Paper.

Responses to the Green Paper for Post-school Education and Training are due by 30th April 2012.

We look forward to your participation in this event.
