Available to groups of 10 or more, Kansas City Life offers employers a choice of coverage
amounts which can be designated specifically for their needs. Benefit schedules can be a flat
amount, a percentage of earnings or a combination of the two. In most instances, all coverage is
guaranteed issue for employees who are actively at work on the effective date of coverage.
AGE REDUCTIONS
Our standard reduction schedule for Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage
is 35 percent of the original amount at age 65, 55 percent of the original amount at age 70 and
70 percent of the original amount to age 75. Benefits normally terminate at retirement. Other
reduction schedules are available to accommodate your client’s plan design.
WAIvER OF PREMIUM bENEFIT
If an individual becomes totally and permanently disabled prior to reaching age 60, coverage contin-
ues while that person is disabled and ceases when the disability ends or when the insured reaches the
specified age for termination of an active employee’s life coverage, not to exceed age 70.
EMPLOYER CONTRIbUTION AND PARTICIPATION REqUIREMENTS
Kansas City Life requires that the employer make a minimum contribution of 25 percent of the monthly
premium. When the employer pays 100 percent of the cost, all eligible employees are covered. If the
employer pays less than 100 percent, 75 percent of eligible employees need to participate in the plan. For a competitive

DEPENDENT LIFE INSURANCE
Dependent life coverage is available in a variety of schedules and benefit amounts. Employees
have the option of providing coverage on their spouse and any unmarried children under the age
of 19 (under age 25 if full-time student). Eligible dependents must be performing normal daily
activities and must not be confined in a hospital on effective date of coverage.
