Personal Profile:
I am just about to spend some time working and travelling in order to gain some experience and see the world. I recently
graduated with a distinction in a Masters in Software Engineering, at the University of Huddersfield, after graduating with a First
Class Honours BSC Software Development Degree. I spent the third year of my degree working in Florence, Italy as an IT User
Support Technician at the European University Institute. I believe that I am hard-working, reliable and punctual. I work well in a
team and also perform well as an individual. I believe that I have a high degree of self-confidence and am able to communicate
well with others.
Future Hopes and Ambitions:
I would like to work using languages and computers in a business role, ideally in a thriving international environment. As an
alternative, I also have a keen interest in working in travel and tourism. I think that any experience I can gain, within an
appropriate field of work, will benefit me for the future.

I spent the third year of my undergraduate degree on work placement at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy
working as an IT User Support Technician. During my time in Italy I improved my IT knowledge as well as increasing my
knowledge of the Italian language and culture. Whilst there, I received many comments on the high quality of my work.

European University Institute, Florence July 2007 – July I spent one year working at the EUI (traineeship), during
2008 which time I learnt a great deal about working in a User

primarily involved installing software, setting up new
computers and fixing hardware problems.
The Fenay Bridge I transferred within the company and therefore my role

The Charnley Arms As supervisor I had the authorisation to make decisions
August 2004 – September 2006 which had an impact on the way the business was run. I

was able to handle money and transactions, including
cashing up and balancing tills. The high standard of my
work was acknowledged by customers, staff and senior
management and I received a Silver award. I gained bar
and waitressing experience. I was also joint organiser of a
fund raising period where we successfully raised £1000.
Interests and Achievements in my spare time:
During my spare time I enjoy swimming and I am just starting to learn to dive. I play badminton regularly and also like playing
tennis. I read a great deal in my free time and also spend time cooking and baking. I enjoy learning languages and I love
travelling. I also spend some of my free time cross-stitching and donate squares for LoveQuiltsUK who create quilts for children
with long-term illnesses.
During summer 2009 I was given an opportunity to represent my University as I participated in the Study China Program. This is a
government funded program organised by the University of Manchester for all University Students. I was one of 200 (out of over
1000 applicants) to gain a place on the program. The program involved spending three weeks in China learning about the
Chinese economy, culture, traditions and beliefs, as well as learning some of the basic language skills.
I have completed my Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. I am also a professional member of the British
Computer Society.
